    Hatstall- an archaic Hogwarts term for any students whose Sorting takes more than 5 minutes.
    
                          
     Of Harry Potters contemporaries Hermione and Neville came close to being Hatstalls.
    
                          
    Hermione Sorting took 4 minutes because the Sorting Hat was having a difficult time to fathom Hermione, undecided on where she should be placed- Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. 
    
                          
    Neville was close to being a Hatstall but not because the Sorting Hat was having difficulty to understand Neville, rather because Neville kept begging the Hat to not sort him into Gryffindor because he found that act of bravery to be quite intimidating. In addition, Neville asked the Hat to be sorted into Hufflepuff.
