Chapter 26

Kelly's P.O.V.

I was happy. To see my sister laugh, after everything that happened lately. Her almost dying under rubble, me being an idiot in bringing my father back thinking they can work things out. My father and I reconnected but I still wasn't all that fawned about him. I never really fully forgave him I guess you can say

"So what's going on with Chili?" Ali asked

"She's been off the rails, she's got two strikes. One more and she's out" Matt said

Her eyes widen "What? Why?"

"Her sister recently died" Gabby said "She's lashed out on all of us"

"Wow, you take a couple days off work and all that happens"

Slowly, everyone began to slip into there tents and sleep. Soon it was just Alison and I. It was quiet for awhile

"I'm sorry" I said breaking the silence

She turned to look at me "For what?"

"Bringing in dad, I shouldn't have done that"

She shook her head "It's fine, I just don't understand why you've forgiven him"

"I haven't... Exactly. I just, gave it a try. But I'm really I'm glad I'm walking you down the aisle. Been a dream of mine"

She smiled

"It's really good to see you happy. I really am happy for you"

She gave me a nudge "Thanks"

I patted her leg "Alright come on, let's go to sleep"

She sighed "Okay, goodnight"

We both stood up and she hugged me "Goodnight"

"Goodnight speedy"

She pulled away "Speedy?"

I nodded and shrugged "I missed calling you that"

She nodded "Okay, well goodnight" She turned around and walked into the tent she was sharing with Jay. Matt was of course with Gabby. Brett has her own small tent. So I was sharing with Jimmy. I took my shoes off before I unzipped the tent and walked inside. I see Jimmy was already fast asleep, I rolled my eyes when I noticed he was taking up not only his side, but mine as well. I kicked him lightly but he barely moved

"Jimmy.." I whispered "Move over"

He didn't even move

"Jimmy... Jimmy!" I whispered only louder

He flinched and looked up at me blinking his eyes "What?" He said tiredly

"Move over"

He groaned tiredly and finally moved to his side. I laid down on my sleeping bag and closed my eyes. No this wasn't the best place to sleep, the hard ground. It never is but were camping. Can't expect us to bring our entire beds. By the time I knew it I had knocked out.

I woke up and peered next to me but didn't see Jimmy. What time is it? I took my phone that was sitting beside me and looked at the time 7:15. At least I didn't over sleep. I wiped my eyes and unzipped the bag. I stood up, stretched and put on my shoes only to see Brett sitting on the chair

"Morning" I greeted

"Morning"

I looked around but didn't see anyone "Where is everybody?"

"Matt and Gabby are taking a stroll. And Jimmy and Ali are who knows where"

I chuckled as she handed me granola bar and I chowed it down. I made my way over to a chair and sat down. We couldn't exactly use our phones here cause no service. But I didn't mind

"Jimmy its right behind you!"

I look up to see Jimmy running like the flash to where we were and Alison following behind him laughing so much

"What's going on?" I asked

She continued laughing as she grabbed a water bottle and came to sit next to me "I'm just playing around with Jimmy"

I nod as she takes a sip "So what's on the agenda today?"

"Well, I was thinking we could go on a hike" I said making Jimmy turn to me

"Seriously? I felt like I just ran 10 miles with Alison chasing me"

She lets out a laugh "Come on it will be fun"

Matt and Gabby came back just in time. We gathered out gear and headed out on a hike. To be honest it wasn't as bad. It was actually fun, I could see that smile on Alison's face. I had felt for her, she had been through so much. She deserves the best. By the time I knew it we were back at camp and gathering everything to leave. We made it back home safety, everyone went home. I parked my car and got out when I saw Erin standing outside. I rolled my eyes and climbed out of the car. I shut the door as I approached the door to enter and she stood just close by

"Hey" She said as she had her hands in her pocket "How was your camping trip?"

I looked down fiddling with my keys "It was good"

"Listen Kelly can we talk?"

"What is there to talk about?"

"Look I know you made yourself clear of how you feel but I just want to make sure were good"

I continued walking to the door not looking at her "Yea were good" I approached the door and was about to touch the doorknob when she spoke yet again

"That's not the only reason why I came here"

With that stopping me I turned around to face her

"Were working on a case, and we need to use bait. Tough guy like you, we thought your perfect"

I finally looked at her "Your gonna be fine, were gonna keep an eye on you the entire time"

I didn't say a word "Come on, Kelly"

I gave in and nodded "When?"

"Today, right now"

I nodded and followed her as she walked to her car. What am I getting myself into?
