/a/n first of all, I want to thank all of you for reading kik // septiplier , the first book in this series. Your support means everything to me.

This story is going to be describing Jack's thoughts, as it did in the first one, but there will probably be some things describing Mark's thoughts as well every once in a while.

shylo600 will be helping me with this story.

And that's pretty much all I have to say. If you have any questions for anything I may have forgotten, just comment them!

Ever since Mark left him after they went to different colleges, Jack's life hadn't been great. Along with the break up, Emmett and Jack lost connection almost completely, other than seeing each other's Facebook posts or tweets every once in a while. They just lost touch over time.

He'd managed to graduate college, but he just didn't know what to do with his life after that.

He was in a dead end, part-time job, and had no idea where Mark was, or what he was doing.

Jack knew what college Mark went to, but it was past his graduation, so Jack had no idea what Mark was doing with his life. Probably something better than what Jack was doing.

He just felt lonely. He was sad.

Then he remembered that Mark's kik was still in his contacts. He decided to message him.

Hey. Remember me?

Jack surprisingly got a response rather quickly. He was surprised.

How could I possibly forget?

Jack chuckled.

I can't believe you actually answered.

Of course I did, Jack. I'd never forget an old friend! How's life been treating you.

An old friend, Jack thought, Hardly.

Eh, it could be better, I suppose. And yourself, buddo?

Buddo?! Really?! Jack thought, mentally facepalming.

I'm alright. I haven't heard from you in a while. Not since we left for college.

You mean not since the breakup?

Yeah, that. You graduate from college?

Yeah. How about you?

Nah. I dropped out from engineering. Just got too stressful.

Ah, I'm sorry.

Don't be.

Jack just decided to leave the conversation there. It was clear that he still had feelings for Mark. The breakup hit Jack pretty hard. It came out of nowhere, really.

He just hadn't been happy since, which he hated, because he didn't want to rely on other people for happiness. It'd been years since they broke up. Nearly three years, and Jack was still sad. He hated it.

He turned on some music, trying to lift his spirits at least a small bit.

He was convinced that he was still in love with Mark. He almost knew it. He hated himself.

Mark made him feel loved. Now that feeling was gone.

He was awkward, and sad, and alone. Without Mark at his side, he felt hopeless; worthless.

He had few friends. He still talked to Jake every once in a while. Jake and Cody were still together.

Jack wasn't the closest friends with them, just talked sometimes.

He was also friends with a girl named Olivia that he worked with at a small restaurant. She liked to go by Olive. She had light brown hair and chocolate brown eyes, similar to those of Mark's. She was quite thin, her body description would be frail and small; delicate.

She was very pretty. Jack would think about trying to date her if they didn't work together, and if he wasn't still emotional about Mark.

Jack lived kind of far from his mother, so he didn't see her much, and he didn't talk to her much. When he did visit, she noticed his change in mood, especially since Mark left. She knew how much her son was hurting.

And he was.
