He loomed over me. Straddling me to the ground. Sehun leaned forward, nuzzling his head into my neck and finding the sensitive spot.
"Se- Sehun.." I heard myself moan.
"Hey! Is that you in there?" A familiar voice spoke next to me.My eyes snapped open. That was not Sehun's voice. Kyungsoo was leering over me and the room I was in was pitch black, not counting the table lamp next to my bed that was turned on. I was in a sitting up position. My leg was tightly bound in a mass of cast, bandage and tape. I redirected my attention back to the small table. The lamp certainly wasn't the only thing on the table.
Scores of cards, flowers and gifts bedecked the small table. It overflowed onto the floor. I also saw a stack of clothes folded neatly on the floor next to all the get well gifts. On the top was Sehun's jacket.
"Kyungsoo, who is all this stuff from?" I asked.
"This might be a little like, crazy to hear, but you're all anyone ever talks about in school. You're famous. Ok well, at least at Seoul High you are, sorry to break it to you," he said happily.
"Hold on, how long was I out for?" I asked, absolutely bewildered.
"Baek, you became popular overnight. You've been out all day though, it's about 5:30," Kyungsoo responded, glancing down at his watch.
"But it's pitch black-" I started saying.
"Honest to god, Baek, did your head get hit by a car as well? Have you ever heard of something called daylight savings time? Idiot," he chuckled, shaking his head.
I smiled. You could always count on Kyungsoo to make you smile no matter what was coming out of his mouth. The light that filtered in from the hallway suddenly dimmed. I looked up and saw Sehun standing in the doorway, his dominant stance taking up the entire frame. He leaned against it with a worried look on his face. I sharply inhaled.
"I'll uh, leave you guys to it," Kyungsoo said quietly, getting up immediately and leaving the room, closing the door behind him.
The silence that spread across the space felt almost sickening.
"Thought I should come by and visit the person who saved my life," he said nervously.
"Looks like everyone else has beaten me to it though," he said gesturing to the table.
"Yeah, seems so. I mean, I wouldn't know, I've been out all day," I answered quickly.
All at once, he dropped the whole front he was putting on.
"I'm so sorry Baekhyun. This is all my fault. I should've died out there and I mean th-" He started gushing out.
"No, no. You don't mean that. Nobody wants to die. Do I want to die? Hell no! Neither do you. Listen, it's not your fault, ok? You need to know that," I reassured him immediately.
He sighed and walked into the room, sitting in the chair that Kyungsoo had recently vacated.
"I know. I know it's not my fault. I already talked with the police about that jackass hit and run driver. They're already working on the case. They'll probably come talk to you sooner or later. You're right, it's no one's fault but theirs," Sehun informed me.
I wiped my forehead, damn it's hot. I dismissed it as just fever from my leg wound. It's probably infected, who knows how long we laid out there in the snow.
The simple memory of that moment brought a deep blush to much of my face.
"Baek, your face is beet red, are you sure you're alright?" Sehun fretted, placing a palm on my forehead.
The touch of his hand sent a million tiny little jolts of electricity through me at once. It caused me to twitch and jar my leg. I cried out in a a brief spasm of pain, grabbing ahold of Sehun's wrist, digging my nails into his skin.
"Sorry. Just moved my leg a little," I mumbled, slowly releasing Sehun's wrist, feeling it slip out of my hand. Sehun looked down at their hands. I felt my face growing hot. I quickly pulled my hand out of his grasp. I started to lean down to the edge of the bed to grab his jacket.
"Sehun, I still have your jack-" I was cut off by his lips against mine. What the hell was happening, but it's not like I was gonna stop it.
He pushed me further and further against the wall behind me as he deepened the kiss. His hand ran through my hair and up the back of my head. My eyes drifted shut in absolute pleasure.
I was vaguely aware of the throbbing pain happening everywhere else.
He pushed more and more of himself onto me and the pain became more noticeable. His eagerness felt as though he's been wanting to do this since forever ago. As much as I hated to do it, I pushed Sehun off of me.
"It, hurts," I choked out, grimacing through the pain.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to," Sehun quickly said, his blush as deep as my pain.
At that moment, Kyungsoo opened the door.
"Hey, did you know they have Doritos in the vendi-" He stopped short, taking in the sight before him.
Sehun fell off the far side of the bed from shock, knocking into my leg on his way down. Which of course fucking hurt like hell, don't need to tell you that.
"Oh my god, Baskhyun, are you alr-" Sehun said from the floor.
"I'm good. I'm good. Really," I said through gritted teeth.
Kyungsoo's eyes went huge and Sehun popped his head over the edge of the bed, rubbing a spot on his head. We all just kinda sat and looked at each other awkwardly.
"Should I leave or-" Kyungsoo started saying as Sehun interrupted him.
"No, no, it's fine. I was just leaving anyway," he said hurriedly, brushing off dust from his shirt.
He walked out, pausing to wave at me.
Kyungsoo's eyes followed him as he walked out and then fell on me.
"What the he-"
"Don't ask," I said quickly, still not believing what just happened. It's everything I've ever hoped for. I looked back up at D.O with huge eyes to match his.
"I think I'm as confused as you are," I finally said, breaking the silence.
"So do you like, still want some Doritos? They totally have them in the vending machine," he carried on, like nothing had happened.
"Yeah bro, hit me up."I was in there for a week. They finally released me after a whole freaking week. But I really shouldn't be complaining, the last thing I wanted to do was go back to school and confront Sehun. He wasn't sure if their kiss was a one time, heat of the moment thing and it would just all go back to the way it was. Besides, he was still hobbling around in a full leg cast and crutches. I really can't handle much else right now.
All this and more was running through my mind at a hundred miles per hour as I shifted uncomfortably in the passenger seat of Kyungsoo's 2015 Mustang GT. Yes, we were lonely wallflowers, but we were also super loaded. I guess you could call it a perfect balance. Our status at school made sure none of the wealth went to our heads.
It started snowing again as we pulled into the parking lot.
"Yikes, watch the leg," I hissed more at myself as Kyungsoo helped me out, holding onto my backpack.
Looking up at the wretched school, the view looked completely different to me. Everyone who was still standing around outside had their eyes on me. I got everything situated and started my way up the steps. Everyone was staring at me.
Everyone.
It was eery considering I'm used to people's eyes sliding from whoever was in front of us to whoever was behind us, like we didn't exist. Kyungsoo had one of my arms in hand, helping me up. I leaned over and whispered in his ear.
"You see everyone staring at us too, right?"
"This is what I was talking about, you're practically famous here," he responded quietly so no one else would hear.
Because no one else was talking. Just watching. It made you want to scream something obscene like "PEE PEE", just to see if anyone would react to it.
A girl came out of nowhere and took my other arm, smiling at me and chattering away like she was my best friend since forever. Stepping inside was like, the situation outside multiplied by a thousand. Everyone made it a point to say hit to me, pat my shoulder or some form of acknowledgement. Kyungsoo led me through the crowd pressing in around me. It was a like a scene from a movie.
"Baek, how close were you to dying?"
"Does it still hurt?"
"Why were you following Sehun?"
"I wasn't!" I responded indignantly to that last comment. Knowing that it was a complete lie.
"Don't let their stupid comments get to you, I've been dealing with that shit all week," Kyungsoo shrugged off.
And there, at the end of the hallway, surrounded by his mass of followers was the one person who has been on my mind for the last week. My heart started racing. He looked up and met my gaze. I think my heart just stopped. He laughed at something someone just said, his dark eyes flashing. Then he sidled away from them and started making his way towards me. The world slowed down. I watched him get closer and closer, it all happened in slow motion.
"Hey Baekhyun, do you want to chill with me for a bit? I want to talk," he said smoothly.
"I uh- sure," I stuttered out.
