Chapter 19

Since it was winter break already, we had a plan to all go to New York for break. It was going to be Nick, Nicole, Dylan, Allie, Aaron (her new boyfriend), Melissa, Ella, James and I. Melissa is my friend from a couple of years ago, she is 20 and acts like the biggest 5 year old which makes her fun to hang out with. She didn’t care if we were younger than her she loved all of us and loved to travel.

We planned on spending a week in New York City and just do some tourist stuff, try some new things. I have always wanted to give money to a homeless person so I was going to do that. I also knew bringing Nick would help him out, get him having fun in a different state. Also being from Florida it is hot even during winter.

“You guys ready? We have to be at the airport in 30 minutes!” Nicole screamed from the cab van, we were all lugging our suitcases out to the trunk. We took a airport taxi so we could all fit. Melissa was the last one to the car as usual.

“And we’re off!” Dylan said with a smile.

“New York here we come!” Allie said laughing.

We got to the airport and took all our luggage from the taxi, and sat at the gate. Florida to New York the sign above us said. The flight attendant finally said we could board the plane, so we showed the lady our tickets and walked down the isle. The plane was seated two a row so we sat in couples. Nick and I were in the first row by the emergency exit. Nicole and Dylan next to us in the other lane. Allie and Aaron behind us, Ella and James next to them. Melissa was sitting next to a hot guy she found on the plane, so she didn’t mind.

The plane took off and Allie already fell asleep, it was a 5 hour flight to get there. Dylan and Nicole were watching a movie on the screen above them, Transformers I think it was. Nick and I were playing Slap Jack, which probably wasn’t the best game to play on a plane but whatever.

We landed in New York around 3pm, and we were starving. We waited for the luggage at the gate station for about 20 minutes. Then we took two cabs to the hotel, it was a nice hotel too. Melissa is a flight attendant and they give her rooms for free, so it was on her this week. We got five rooms for all of us, each had one bed, a couch, and a desk. The bathroom was off to the side of the room, and there was a door connecting the rooms. All of the rooms were right beside each other, and to top it off they were overlooking Time Square. Thank you Melissa.

We got settled at about 6pm, and then Nicole shouted “I am hungry! Can we get some New York pizza please!” And all I heard was

“Yes please!”

“Finally!”

“I am starving.”

So we walked with huge jackets on, jeans, and some warm boots. The pizza place was only a block from the hotel, but it was still freezing. The manager was greeting everyone from outside into the restaurant. We sat down at a table for nine, and took off our coats.

“Should we get like three large pizza’s?” Ella said.

“Maybe four, the guys eat a lot.” Nicole answered Ella.

“Or five, you girls can eat a lot too!” James said, making all of the other guys laugh too.

The waiter got over to our table and we ordered five large pizza’s, most of us got water, some got coffee.

After dinner, we walked New York City with full stomachs. The pizza was all gone, nine people and five pizza’s. The lights around the city was nothing you have ever imagined, it was all lit up. The signs were amazing, and everyone was always in a rush. You could see the Empire State Building from where we were standing and it was just breath taking.
