Chapter 23

2 Years Later

Love is scary, either it works out or it doesn’t. There is a 50/50 chance and you don’t know what end you will get. 

“Hi, I am Cara.” I said to the boy sitting next to me in my college class. 

“Hello, I’m Justin.” he turned to me, smiling. He had a cute smile, and it reminded me of Nick, which made me sad to think about. I fake smiled back and turned away quickly. 

Have a cute day at college, see you for lunch - Nicole

Nicole, Ella and I lived in an apartment together, we also went to the same college but different classes. It was nice to live with my best friends, but hard because Dylan, and James were always around. I thought about Nick all the time, about what he was doing, was he still in college? I might never know. 

I finished up the class, got my notebook and laptop and walked out of the door. 

“Hey wait up.” Justin said behind me, running to catch up to me. “Want to get some lunch?” 

“I am going to lunch with my friends..” I said and paused. “You can come too?” I asked not sure if I made the right decision.

“If it’s cool with you, it is cool with me.” he smirked. Justin was your average college frat boy. He had brown hair, scruff, blue eyes, tanned skin, and wore jeans and a plaid button down. I have to admit he was hot. 

“It is cool with me.” I smiled back at him, looking up at his blue eyes. 

I definitely didn’t want to get to know him, the whole time I was with him I thought about Nick. I just kept thinking about that day two years ago when Nicole told me what she saw. I couldn’t believe it, for sure one of the worst days of my life. 

We got to the fast food restaurant and sat down waiting for Nicole and Ella to arrive. “So do you play any sports?” I asked trying to make small talk.

“Yep, I play baseball for the college. You might see me on television sometime.” He smiled and it made me laugh. 

So he had a sense of humor, and was a jock. Definitely your typical frat boy. “So are you a frat boy” I asked sipping on my straw, bending it back and forth. 

“Too easy huh?” he answered with a question.

“Yeah kinda.” I laughed looking at him. He laughed too, and then Nicole and Ella walked in. 

“Who is this hot guy?” Nicole said under her breath looking at Justin.

“This is Justin.” I blushed looking at Ella.

“You are definitely the cutest guy Cara has ever dated.” Nicole said with her big mouth. 

I looked down and tried not to look sad, I don’t know why she would say that. I knew it was probably just an in the moment thing, I got up. “I have to use the restroom.” I walked away.

“I better go, my next class is soon. Could you two give Cara my number for me? Tell her I am sorry for not saying bye.” Justin said to Nicole and Ella, smiling at both of them.

I got back a few minutes later and Nicole and Ella were standing up by the door waiting for me.

“Justin wanted us to give you this.” Ella said winking at me.

I looked at the paper, and smiled a little bit. We all walked out of the double doors, and back to the apartment. 

“Sorry for saying that about Nick, I know you were thinking about him when I said it.” Nicole said, sitting down next to me on the couch. 

“It’s okay, I just miss him.” I accepted her apology. 

“I know you do, but you have to move on, it was a dick move of him.” She said with her eyebrows down, looking concerned. 

“You have Justin now!!” Ella shouted from the bathroom.

We all laughed, “I don’t want a frat boy Ella!” I answered her.

“I will take him, if you don’t want him” Ella said with a toothbrush in her mouth.

There was a knock at the door, I answered it and it was Melissa. She always came over at the best times. “Girls Night!!!!” Melissa yelled with a huge smile. 

“Cara has a new boyfriend!” Ella screamed again. 

“No I don’t” I said running into the bathroom. 

The girls night had just begun.
