To the darkness that consumes my stars

The physical pain
Makes me breathless
Makes me burn
But it helps for a while
If only for a small while
And I smile because the tears
Have instead leaked crimson
Down my wrists
And been released
I smile because
The sting distracts me
From the hurt
In the hollow place
Where a soul belongs
But soon way too soon
The pounding pain
Within my skull is back with vengeance
The screams that have
Become static
Buried under all the pain
Are ROARING
Bleeding through my ears
I want it to stop just stop
And I reach for the pain
For ANYTHING
To make it quiet again and
The red welts are bright
Lurid to my tired eyes but
The terrible keening inside myself
Is once again distracted
By the physical pain
