I jog up the stairs to keep up with Julian. He pushes the door open to the rooftop and we walk out and sit by the pool.
I notice the sun setting, so I jump up and walk over to the edge of the rooftop, looking down at the busy streets below. "Jules, come watch the sunset with me!" I beckon for him to join me.
"Sounds a little too cheesy for my liking." he stands up from his chair and slowly walks over, his hands in the pockets of his denim jacket.
"Shut up, you love it." I elbow him as he stands close beside me. "It's pretty."
He looks over the edge, and then up at the sky. A small smile appears on his face as he watches me glaring at the sky. "You're pretty." he mumbles to himself.
"What?" I didn't quite catch what he just said.
Julian clears his throat and looks away. "I said, the sun...it's pretty cool, I guess." he shrugs.
"It is." I give him a weird look before averting my gaze back to the golden sunset.
"Alright, I'm over this now." Julian places a cigarette between his lips and lights it.
"You're no fun." I turn away as he offers me one.
"Oh, aren't I?" he raises an eyebrow. "I beg to differ."
Just before I can comment on his witty remark, the rooftop door opens and out walks Fab, his face lighting up when he spots Julian and I.
"Fab!" I call him over. "Come look at the sunset with me!"
"Don't mind if I do!" he walks over and stands beside me.
"See, Julian..." I poke my tongue out at him. "Fab thinks sunsets are cool, too."
"They're great." Fab squints his eyes and looks up at the sky. "Is Julian being a brat?"
"He sure is." I look over at Julian rolling his eyes.
"Typical." Fab chuckles.
I lean over to Fab and whisper. "He's been acting really moody. Any idea as to why? I'd figure you know him way better than me, so..."
"The last time he acted like this, he liked s-" Fab widens his eyes and stops himself mid-sentence. "Never mind, I dunno."
"Um, okay..." I look away and frown.
"What are you guys whispering about?" Julian asks.
"Nothing." Fab forces a grin.
"Right..." Julian places his cigarette between his lips again and starts to walk away.
"Jules, are you going back inside?" Fab ask him and he doesn't reply as he disappears through the door.
"Woah." I furrow my brow.
Fab clears his throat and nudges me. "Looks like someone has a crush."
"What?!" I furrow my brow at him. "On who?"
"Man, you're oblivious." he lets out a hearty laugh. "Jules' got the hots for you, babe!"
"No...he doesn't." I turn away as my cheeks burn red.
"He gets all sour when I get close to you." Fab shrugs.
"So?"
"Oh, the naivety!" he chuckles. "Julian likes you, Jade."
"N-No..." I shake my head. "Why would he like me?!"
"Why wouldn't he?"
"Um, I... Look, he doesn't like me, okay? Like I said before, he's probably just not over his ex yet."
"Whatever. Believe what you want to." Fab shrugs again. "Let's go inside now, yeah? The sun's almost gone."
"Yeah, okay."

I walk over to the sofa and sit down next to Albert, who's strumming on his guitar. "That's a nice tune."
"Thanks." he looks at me and softly smiles.
"Where's Jules?"
"He went out."
"He went out?" I quickly glance at Albert's wristwatch. "It's nine o'clock!"
"He'll be fine." Albert shrugs.
"Where did he go?"
"Beats me."
"Is he by himself?"
"Probably." Albert leans his guitar against the sofa and turns to me again. "Why are you so worried all of a sudden?"
"I'm not." I shake my head. "Was just wondering where he went is all."
"Sure." Albert mumbles.
"Well, I'm off to bed." I say with a yawn. "Night, Junior."
"Goodnight."
