Monday

*This chapter is quite short I know, but don't worry, I'll make it up to you guys with the next one!

I walked out of my English classroom and to my locker, shoving my books inside.

God, I really hate Mondays.

I read online somewhere that the average person doesn't crack a smile until 11:26 a.m. on a Monday.

I haven't smiled yet.

It's 2:04 p.m.

I felt my phone buzzing in my pocket and I pulled it out eagerly.

guess who just got an acceptance letter? -Lane

Lucky bastard, I know that Lane could probably get into any school with his grades and extra curricular combined anyway.

Although that's not really who I was hoping the text was from...

Really!? From which school? -Janey

I sent my reply and slipped my phone into my pocket, standing at my locker for a few more minutes, aimlessly looking around.

As the people passed by, my eyes scanned each one of them, searching, but to no avail. I sighed, closing my locker as I went to my history class, feeling a little bit deflated.

Why isn't he here?

I feel like it's quite hard to make somebody fall in love with you if you don't spend time with them...

...not that I'm missing him or anything.

I walked in and hurried to my seat on the right side of the middle row.

Our teacher, Mr. Hay, walked in, but as soon as he started his lesson about the Middle Ages, I zoned out completely.

I have lived through quite a few Mondays, but for some reason, they're never as grueling as this one.

I usually have some idiot throwing jokes(insults) my way, or muttering funny things about the teacher during class.

Then the intercom buzzed,  thankfully interrupting Mr. Hay.

~Due to a teacher's conference, tomorrow's school day has been officially cancelled~

Cheers erupted throughout the room as the student started buzzing with chatter about what they were planning on doing tomorrow.

I know what I'm doing.

Sitting at home alone and probably going to get in some homework.

As always.

"Are you coming to the pier with us tomorrow?"

I turned around to see Marlie, a tall blonde girl in our class who was fairly popular looking my direction.

I opened my mouth to answer, but someone beat me to it.

"Yes! I'm so hype, it's going to be a blast!" Lola, a brunette with striking eyes replied, twirling her hair.

Marlie nodded smiling, then she handed me a piece of paper. "Hand this to Lola will you?"

I took it and gave it to Lola, not saying anything.

"Thanks Jackie." Lola said, turning around before I had a chance to correct her.

"It's Janey." I said to her back, sighing and sinking back down in my seat.

I pulled out my phone, hopefully checking it for messages from somebody, but to no avail, it was only Lane.

I'm happy for him and all, but he's just not who I really want to see right now.

Can this day get any worse?

It's not even the fact that I'm not going to the Pier, because frankly, a bunch of obnoxious teens getting drunk and crazy isn't exactly my idea of a fun time.

The reason that I'm sad about today is that something is missing from my day.

And even though I don't want to say it, I know that it being Monday isn't the only reason I'm upset today.

I also found myself missing my embarassing ringtone for once.
