Tell me what you think of each chapter, feed back really helps me. Even if it's very critical. Thanks💕.

The tree we sit underneath shades the bright sunlight. I'm not he biggest fan of spring. I'd much rather be freezing in the winter than sweating in the heat.

My book is doing an amazing job of helping me block out Summer's non stop talking. I take a bite of my apple before turning one of the many pages in it. I'm trying my best to act as if last night didn't happen, considering the man that was on my mind is my best friend's dad. I know longer feel shameless. Each time I look at Summer, I feel guilty.

"Are you even listening." She nudges my shoulder with hers.

I look at her, swallowing the bite I just took.

"Yes?" I lie.

"Seriously, Lauren." Summer crosses her arms over her chest.

I fold my legs underneath me and shut my book, making sure to to mark the page I stopped on.

"Ok, I'm listening." I assure her. Its so hard to look her in the eyes, because of how similar they look to her father's.

"I was trying to tell you that there's a guy over there that's been eyeballing us ever since we sat here." She glances over her shoulder and I follow her eyes to a boy sitting on one of the near by benches next to who I'm guessing is his friend.

The two boys say something to one another and continue to look at the two of us. I could care less about the curious boys. I take another bite of my apple and reopen my book.

"So what?" Its not like they'd ever talk to me. I'm just the "shy girl." Which is what I've been labeled my whole life. Just because I don't say much, doesn't mean I don't have anything to say.

Summer shuts my book and I look at her with wide eyes.

"Summer!" Now I have to find my page all over again."

"He's coming over here." she says in a rushed whisper.

I look over her shoulder again and sure enough one of the two boys is walking towards us with confident strides. Summer combs her hair with her fingers and slickly unbuttons the top button on her collared shirt. Ugh, Summer's need to impress boys is so disturbing.

The blonde boy takes a seat directly in front of me on the grass and I can see Summer's shoulders slump in disappointment.

He smiled, exposing the dimples in his cheeks. I returned the simple gesture and looked down at my lap. I take a brief seconds to study his bleach blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. They're pretty and all but they're nothing compared to the hazel ones that I can't get out of my mind.

"Not to be too forward, but I saw you reading over here and I'd really like to know your name." He says.

Even though his words are super corny, I can't deny that I'm blushing like a tomato.

"Lauren." I say.

I take another bite of my of the apple I almost forgot I was holding.

A smirk rises on his face as I chew.

"I'm Lucky." I presses his hand to his chest. I know it's his name but with the smirk playing on his lips I can't help but think he means it literally.

There's an awkward silence between the two of us for a brief second before Summer clears her throat. I almost forgot she was there.

"Is there something you wanted?" She says in a harsh tone. Its clear that she's upset that she isn't getting all the attention.

The boy looks at Summer.

"Yes actually." He says diverting his attention back to me.
"Homecoming is this weekend and I wanted to know if you'd go with me."

Summer stiffens next to me and I almost choke on a piece of my apple.

"What? I mean- why? You don't even know me." I stumble on my worlds like a fool. I wasn't expecting him to ask me that. I wasn't expecting anyone to ask me.

He looks down and laughs then looks back to me, his blue eyes squinted from the bright sunlight.

"I know your name, and you seem like a nice girl, considering you haven't ran me off yet." He shrugs his shoulders.

My sit my half eaten apple down on the book that rest in my lap.

"I don't know." I sigh looking to my right at Summer who's scrolling through her phone, purposely ignoring me when I need her most for reassurance.

"Can I see your phone?" He asks.

"Why?" I cock my head to the side like a demented dog.

"So I can put my number in it." He holds out his hand confidently waiting for me to hand my phone over.

Unsure, I reach over into my back pack and fish my phone out of one of it's pockets. I place it in his hand and he waste no time fiddling his thumbs on the screen. I hear a buzz in his front pocket and he then hands it back to me.

"You have my number and I have yours. Since you aren't exactly comfortable with going to homecoming with a complete stranger, we can get to know each other." Oh, he is smooth.

He stands from the grass and I look up at him, the tree above us shading the sun from my eyes.

"I'll call you." He doesn't give me time to protest before he walks away with the same confident stride.

I look down at my phone to see that he added his contact name as "Lucky" with a four leaf clover emoji next to it.
