Blue arrived early. She waited by the fountain, in the plaza. Suddenly, the nightsap prince's own men, the Night Brigade, rode into the plaza. All the superstitious townspeople fled into alleys and shops.
Blue hesitated, wondering where Jonathan was. Then she tried to slip into one of the now crowded alleys. She felt a tug on her cloak.
As she was pulled back, she began panicking. The nightsaps who were pulling her back were the prince's footmen.
Why? What does he want with me? She thought.
The cloak ripped.
