Chappy 5

Emma was still a little skeptical by why I wasn’t there the morning I was at Jude’s but I just said that I was taking a walk and there was no harm intended.

The school bell rang as Emma and I walked into science, a class that I have with Emma, Jude, Katherine, and Dylan.

The cold air brushed my face as we found out seats; Emma turned towards me and asked, as if we were on a mission, “Okay, so how are you going to do this Dylan thing?”

“Uh,” I seriously didn’t know the answer to that question, there has been many other things on my mind, “The project thing,”

She rolled her eyes, “Or we could so something more spontaneous,” She pointed to the section where Dylan is, “Since Dylan sits like a guy with their legs all out, you can act like you are going to sharpen your pencil and then trip over his leg. He’ll then proceed to feel bad and help you up.”

I second thought it and said, “That’s actually not a bad idea.”

“You should do it now…you know just to get it over with.” She looked more excited than I was.

I groaned and picked up the pencil off of the desk glaring at her before turning around, my heart beating in my head; truthfully I’m scared of rejection. I looked at all the faces not paying me any attention when I saw Jude and Katherine all up against each other acting like they’re perfect for each other, I felt jealous, I mean especially when I know for sure I like him.

Feeling my face hit the ground, not knowing what went on a voice asked, “Are you okay?” The voice was smooth and concerned.

Turning over on my back and sitting up, rubbing my head I said, “Yeah, I guess,”

I grabbed his hand as he pulled me up, little surges of pain running through my body, “Are you sure?”

He put his hand on the small of my back supporting me, the class going back to their business, as my face reddened, “Well other than the bruise forming on my butt, I think I’m good,”

He laughed a beautiful laugh as he asked, “You’re Bernadette, right?”

“Yes,” I paused, “Well you can call me Bernie,”

“Bernie,” He played with it on the tip of his tongue, “I like it…you want to sit?”

I nodded smiling widely feeling accomplished about what I did, “Sure,”

“I’m sorry about that whole thing,”

I said brushing it off, “Shit happens.”

Trading glances of flirtation with Dylan throughout class, I felt that my plan to get him was in motion, now all I have to get him to do is get him to ask me out on a date.

The bell rang for dismissal as Dylan came right up to me, “So, Bernie, can I take you home?”

I looked at Jude, knowing he could hear the whole conversation, and said cockily, “Maybe next time.” I wanted to keep him in suspense.

“Oh, I see how it is…this means war.” He walked out of the classroom smiling as I was too.

I walked over to Jude and asked, “So, have you been ignoring me all day?”

He looked up at me, slowly putting his things in his backpack, “No why would I?”

“Uh, because of that night, I just don’t want things to be weird,”

He slung his backpack over his shoulder, “Hey I thought this was only physical,” He paused smiling, “Plus, if things were weird, would I give you this?”

He handed me a piece of balled up paper, as he walked out of the classroom, I called after him, “But, you’re my ride!”

Unwrapping the piece of paper, a note said in somewhat chicken scratch:

Meet me in the history class in

a minute…You should hurry.

I crumpled the paper back up and threw it in the trash while walking towards the door, what does he have planned for me now?

The crowds of students started to thin out and the noise volume decreased as I felt anxious walking up to the history class door.

The classroom was dark but an overflow of lighting came through the huge windows as I stepped in.

I called, “Jude?” Looking from the front of the class to the back, on the floor was a huge, sloppy make-out session between Katherine and Jude, “What the hell!” I screamed.

He looked past Katherine and said franticly, “No, it’s not what you think,”

“Oh, really, huh, I think it is. I think you’re and asshole jerk and I never ever want to see your face again!” I walked backwards towards the door.

Katherine laughed and said, “Now, run along and cry to your mommy. Jude wants me, not you so shoo, shoo.”

Feeling the emotions of pissed off, angry, hurt, and frazzled; I said nothing all I did was look at Jude with disgust in my eyes and walked away.

There was barely anyone in the hallways now, my toms making a light sound on the ground. I can’t believe he did something like that, I mean he tells me to come and then shows me that he really doesn’t care about me? He’s such a man whore, but what I really can’t believe is that I liked him...alot.

Pushing through the front doors I looked around the school grounds knowing that Dylan’s still here and found him leaning on the rail with his guy friends.

Taking in a deep breath, I walked over to him putting on a smile, “Hey, Dylan.”

“Hey, I knew you would come back,” He smiled as I looked up at him.

I laughed falsely, “Ha, ha, well my ride is caught up in something,” I paused, “Would you ever-so-mind, in your entirely busy life, if you could take me home,” I couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the end.

“Hey, you’re weird Bernie, but I like it.” He casually wrapped his around my shoulders and escorted me to his Benz.

We pulled up to my house after a whirl wind of talking and laughing and joking, “Well we’re here,” He said, looking at me with his gorgeous blue eyes.

“Yup,”

“Hey, you know homecoming is in a week, and I was wondering if you would like to go…with me.” His asking was so subtle and sweet.

“Yes, of course, but don’t football people go with cheerleaders?”

He looked at the steering wheel smiling to his self, “Well, those girls aren’t really my type.”

“Figures, well, call me we can get the color setup and everything.” I said it with a valley girl accent.

“I was planning on it.”

Getting out of the car, I couldn’t help but shout, “Yes!”
