Autumn

Jump in leaves. Autumn is heavy backpacks full of pencils, paper and binders. Autumn is the rustle of red    and orange leaves and dry, crinkly plants going to sleep.

Jump in leaves. Autumn is creamy hot cocoa and sweet candy-corn. Autumn is lanterns flickering like kindling and squash arranged by the door.

Jump in leaves. Autumn is knitted cozy sweaters and cropped pants. Autumn is the first frost flowers that sprinkle the sidewalks readying the land for more.

Jump in leaves. Autumn has fallen.

                summer’s evening, winter’s dawn

                                The equinox paints colors

                with her sister, Autumn
