"What the hell were you thinking?" Skye demanded. She spun around in her desk chair, turning to face Addison who sat on Skye's bed.
"I wasn't," Addison cringed from Skye's anger. Addison lowered her copy of 1984 to her lap in order to meet Skye's gaze.
"Obviously," Skye scoffed.
"It just happened so fast," Addison tried to defend herself. "We were pressed up against each other in Mark's closet and he was right in front of me and-"
"Wait," Skye interrupted. "What were you doing in Mark's closet?"
"Well, not his actual closet; it was his guest bedroom's closet," Addison corrected. "Anyway, that's not the point. I don't know what to do."
"Well I don't know why you're coming to me," Skye said, turning back to her laptop. "You did the complete opposite of what I told you to do last time."
"I know. I'm sorry."
"It's not me you should be apologizing to," Skye shook her head.
"Then who should I be apologizing to, Skye?" Addison asked, frustrated with the whole situation. "Pierre? Who knows that we're not official? Tom? Who knows that Pierre and I are hooking up? Tell me, Skye, how this is entirely my own fault."
"That's not what I said," Skye sighed. She swiveled to face Addison again, looking slightly more sympathetic. "I think Tom's an idiot for letting you kiss him, yet alone going to third base with you."
"Gee thanks," Addison replied sarcastically.
"That's not what I meant," Skye rolled her eyes. "You weren't there, Ads. You didn't see how bad he was after the breakup."
Addison looked at her lap guiltily. "So I shouldn't keep seeing him," Addison inferred.
"You'd break his heart. Again. That's the whole reason why I told you not to go out with both of them in the first place," Skye explained.
"I know, okay? I don't want to hurt him again... I just, I don't know." Addison threw herself backwards so that she was lying on the bed.
"Do you want to be with Tom?" Skye asked.
"I miss being with him, but I know that's not a good reason to get back together," Addison reasoned. "And if we did start dating again, it would fail just like our relationship did before. Just because we're close to each other during the summer doesn't mean things will change in the fall."
Addison sat back up on the bed. "And there's also Pierre," she continued. "I like being with him, but it's just another doomed relationship."
"Sounds to me like you should swear off boys completely," Skye smiled.
"Skye, I'm serious," Addison groaned.
"I don't know what to tell you, Ads," Skye shrugged. "It seems like it's a little too late for you to not get involved with either of them. If you really want to go out with both of them, I'm not going to tell you not to."
Addison raised her eyebrows at Skye. "But I really think it's a bad idea," Skye added. "You keep saying how both of the relationships are destined to fail, which means all three of you will probably end up getting hurt."
Addison opened her mouth to protest, but Skye raised her hand to cut her off. "Before you say that it's just sex, we both know that that's not true. I know you, Ads. You've always been someone that only has sex when you're committed to that person."
