He wouldn't hurt me.
She says that morning.
He won't hurt me she says at night.
She says as she looks at the bruises in the mirror.
He wouldn't hurt me, not again.
She says after he slammed the door.
I'll give him one more chance she says,
After he threw the beer bottle at the wall.
As of now she sits in the corner keeping her mouth shut as he chugs down another beer.
Later that day, she gives up and rans away.

Later that year, she finds a note on her door.
"You can run but you can't hide."

Maybe she should speak up she says to herself.
