Eric instead of Four?

Ch 5 Eric POV

Being an initiate trainer is a lot like being a teacher.

If I had stayed in Erudite that's probably what I would have done after initiation.

But being from Erudite does have its perks. Especially in the control room.

I finish getting dressed in my room and head to the dining hall while I can before training starts today.

This is only my second year and yet I already feel like I've been doing this for ages.

I get a cup of coffee and a bagel then sit down at my usual table waiting for my friends to show up.

I rest my head on my hand and scan the hall.

The doors open and Four walks in.

I've got nothing against the Abnegation, but with Four and I we have issues.

I don't get why though. He was first, he got to be leader. Was that not good enough for him? I know his secret though. Tobias Eaton. Or Four.

I may never reveal the secret, but its always there as back up.

"What's up Eric?" He asks then sits down.

"Nothing much Tobias" I snap

His face goes from cocky to furious within a second.

"Don't say my name ever again. You know what I could do to you?" He says in a low voice.

"Yes I know have me fired or you're going to tell on me. But remember I know your secret" I say

He glares at me then gets up and walks away. Where to... I don't care.

The doors to the hall open again and Zeke and Shauna walk in.

I wave them over and walk over.

"Hey Eric" Zeke says and we fist bump.

"Hey Shaun" I say and slightly smile.

She smiles and leans into Zeke.

"Second first day jitters?" Zeke asks

"No not really. Same ol' same ol'" I say

"So any initiates you got your eye on?" Shauna asks giving me a knowing look.

"Nope. Not at all" I say lying through my teeth.

"Oh come on Eric we know you better than that. We may not be Candor, but we do know when you're lying to us" Zeke says frowning

I sigh and look at the hall doors.

"Well there is this one initi-" I start but then speak of the devil.

She walks in with a girl and two guys. It's only my second day with them so I honestly can't remember their names.

She laughs at something the broader one says.

"Her?" Shauna asks a tad bit shocked.

I look back at her and Zeke with a sharp look.

"What's wrong with her?" I snap

"Nothing. She was the first jumper. She's gorgeous" Zeke says. Shauna elbows him in the ribs at the last one and I give him a look.

"What? She is" he says kissing Shauna's cheek.

Tris and her friends sit down at the table across from us.

An initiate at the table diagonal from my table is staring at her.

I think he's from Candor or something like that.

She stops laughing and looks at me.

I soften my face to a frown instead of a scowl and glance at her.

She gives me a small shy smile then turns back to her friends.

I look back at Shauna and Zeke. Shauna is trying not to laugh while Zeke gives me a smirk.

"Yeah. She definitely is" I say and return to my coffee and bagel.
