War

A/N:~ This was based off of the over glorifying of " it's a great and glorious thing, to die for one's country".

Courageous
Glorious
Words given to little boys
As they head to their funerals.

Painfully
Violently
They die seeking some sort of glory
In this act called war.

It's supposed to be a good thing
To die for one's country,
That is,
To die in war.

But what about these boys,
Not yet men, only 13
Who are storming the shores and battlefields
Trying to make their families proud.

What is our world coming to
That we send boys,
Not yet men
To battle when not yet even 16

Why do we lie to them
An only praise them after they're dead
Why do we use their glory
As an excuse for others to glorify us

"My grandpa died on the battlefield!"
A little girl says
And she receives condolences and praises of her ancestor

"My grandpa died of old age."
A little boy says
And no one gives him anything
It wasn't exciting at all

Why is this the mindset now
"It's glorious to die for one's country"
It's horrid either way

Bloody
Battle-worn
Boys
Dying everyday

1000 years ago they were brought back on a shield
Now they might not be brought back at all.
