Years ago, Photon was one of two Pokemon (the other being Cedric) owned by the young girl Sophia. She gave him a special necklace that she had always kept as a keepsake in the forest one day, telling him that it would befit him better than it did her. However, during the worldwide epidemic that was the Old War, Sophia was one of the first casualties, and I don't think Photon would have ever gotten over the loss were it not for Cedric standing by him. Because of this new resolve, Photon never let his light die, and he and Cedric survived in the forest together until Darkrai abducted Photon in the Dark Void. Yet, Photon still never hid the light that his name is derived from, and, for that, I have an immense amount of respect for this Ampharos.
