ANGSTY FEELINGS
[JASON'S APARTMENT ⇆ 10:05 AM]

THE DARK HAIRED boy's peaceful slumber was interrupted by the group of rapid knocks banging against the front door of his apartment. Not being a morning person, plus the agonizing pain from the fresh stitches he received on his abdomen a couple of hours ago, molded him into an extremely grouchy person when he made his way towards the door.

"I'm coming! Quit it with the loud knocking shit already." Jason furiously yelled at the unknown person behind the door, guessing that it was probably Dick or Tim, lacking a shirt and dressed in only the maroon boxers he fell asleep in when he opened the door revealing the face of someone he wasn't too keen on seeing at the moment. "Bruce."

The billionaire's outfit starkly contrasted his younger former mentee's, a sleek suit that Alfred had laid out for him this morning and shiny black shoes to finish off the look for his next meeting. A stop at the male's apartment had been last minute but something he felt was much needed, considering his negligence towards him recently which he would like to excuse due to how busy things have been in both his day and night life.

"Jason." Bruce mimicked the boy's bland greeting, allowing himself into the mess of an apartment and giving Jason no other choice but to step to the side and let him pass by, much to his distaste. "I wanted to see how you were holding up after our last meeting."

"Great." Jason's response was poise and feigned enthusiasm, the corners of his bitten pink lips forcing themselves up into a polite smile."Was that all?"

His left hand remained on the edge of the door, gripping onto the wood as he silently hoped that Bruce would get the message and leave as soon as possible. As much as he hated to admit it, Jason's conscious couldn't help but drench itself in a pool of guilt when he looked at Bruce due to the fact that he spent the night with a woman he was involved with. Even if they hadn't indulged themselves in any sexual actions though, he wouldn't have minded.

A disappointed sigh drawled out from Bruce, almost making him turn back home and go against Alfred's advice to fix things with the Todd kid but looking at him and taking in his both metaphorically and physically beaten figure, he couldn't help but yearn to come back as a fatherly figure in Jason's life.

"I know you're angry. I understand where you're anger is coming from but-" Bruce tried again, only to be interrupted by the twenty-something year old speaking up and rudely cutting him off; not interested in whatever the elder was trying to say. His empathy towards the bat's words had been cut off when he chose to save the clown that day, instead of giving him what he deserved death.

"Oh, you understand?" Jason asked, his grip on the wood tightening in a futile attempt to restrain his temper. "Is that why you let him off scotch free, Bruce? Because you're a man who just magically understands everyone's feeling? Even those of the children you forced into war from such a young age just to let them die?"

The last sentence wasn't meant to leave his chest, seeming more as something he would only recite to himself at night when he would lay alone in bed and be taunted by his usual nightmares but now that it was out in the open, he was unsure on whether to take it back or not; heavily deciding on the latter once he noticed a lack of emotional change on Bruce's face. Unknowingly to him, like many times, those words had cut deep into Bruce; reminding him of the many times he's let himself down from the lack of protection he thought he gave the bat family.

"I thought giving you time would allow you to understand why I did what I did." Bruce headed towards the entrance of the home, not bothering to look back at the teen-like adult standing by the door. "But it seems that I was wrong." He uttered once he was at the doorway, giving Jason a second to respond before he started walking into the narrow hallway.

"Is that disappointment I hear in your voice?" Jason called out after him, earning no response from the Wayne as he turned the corner, making him increase the volume of his voice. "Don't worry about answering, Bruce. I grew used to that sound coming from you."
