Joes pov
We arrived at the hospital. The doors fly open fast, everything was so overwhelming. I couldn't think right. They run liberty into the hospital. I couldn't hold it in.
I started sobbing. I fall to the ground in one heap.
"I can't loose her, please stay, please" I say to myself. My body shakes violently. I cover my face in my hands. Hot tears splash down my shirt.
I cant loose her now, I'm nothing. Worthless without her. She makes me happy, the reason for my smile. The reason for me to keep going.
The reason why I'm living.
I feel a hand glide up and down my back. I look up, it was one of the paramedics.
"I'm sorry, nobody should deal with this" she said, helping me up. She hugs me.
"It'll all be okay" she says quietly. She holds me in her embrace for a few minutes. I calm down a little
"Thank you" I say, looking at the ground.
"Stay strong" she says with a smile. She leads me into the hospital. All of the familiar surroundings welcome me. I slump down into a chair. I pull out my phone and flip though photos of me and liberty. I stop on one.
It was me and her, smiling true happy smiles. Her beautiful ocean blue eyes scrunch up look as if they were smiling as well.
She looks so happy, so care free. So free. So effortlessly beautiful.
"So beautiful" I whisper softly, tears flow down my cheeks. I stare at the photo, taking in her beauty.
I may never see that smiling face ever again.
I decide to call Zoe. I need someone, I feel so lonely. So alone.
She picks up the phone
"Hello broseph Joseph" she says happily into the phone.
"Zoe" I croak, "please come to the hospital. Please"
I hear her breath hitch. She hangs up.
Within minutes, I see Zoes small figure running towards the entrance. She blows open the doors and turns to me. Her face fell, tears gently fill her eyes. I run over and hug her. I start crying softly.
"Oh Joe" she whispers. She hugs me back. We stay like that for awhile. I finally let go. Tears stain Zoes cheeks.
"It's l-lib" I say slowly, "she nearly died Zoe, fuck she might even be dead now" I say soft enough she could hear. Hearing me say it out loud makes me just want to sit down and cry my eyes out some more.
I look up at the ceiling.
"stay, I beg you, stay"
