The next morning, after a stressful night, the post arrived. Bubbles rushed out. He seemed happy to see that he had made it through another week alive. He came back in with the post. Each bird got his (or her) fair share of ripped envelope. Chuck opened his. He was about to read it when he noticed Red's mail lay unopened.
Jay sighed.
"I see Red isn't here yet."
Chuck had just read his letter. Wait till the others heard this.
"And I think I know why. Just... get a load of this."
Stella gasped. Bomb blew up. Matilda looked at the message in front of them. It read:

If you want to see Red alive again, GIVE US THE EGGS!

It was signed by none other than:
"KING PIG!"
"That monster."
"What are we going to do Chuck?"
"Calm down. CALM DOWN!" Chuck yelled above the clamour of tweets and squawking. "This might be a trap. King Pig could take the eggs and not give Red back."
Matilda spoke up. "Chuck's right. But we may have to do what King Pig says."
Terence just stared into space and, for the first time in ten months, said something:
"Note that the note said alive. He's going to kill Red if we don't hand over the eggs."
The flock looked astonished. Terence had just surrounded himself with the weird glow of celebrity. He growled again.
"Terence, Matilda, I think you're both right. We need to formulate a plan. We can't give up our eggs and we can't let that pig kill Red."
"I've got an idea Chuck!"
"Wait don't tell me yet. I get the feeling we're being watched. Bubbles, secure the perimeter. We need to make sure that there are none of the king's spies about."
"Sure thing Chuck!"
He sped off, rather hastily for a small fellow.
"Okay Bomb, what's the grand idea?"
"We go to the palace, like the King wants. But instead of eggs, we take the Blues in disguise. Then, if the King doesn't give Red back, the Blues can find him"
The whole flock gazed in wonder.
"Do you think this is a good idea? The King might recognise the Blues."
"Then Matilda, that's where you come in. Could you lay a few eggs? That will give the King the authenticity he requires."
"We could just use the eggs Matilda lays and have the Blues hiding under the next."
"Then that's what we're going to do..."
