Unexpected Visitor

It's been a while since I accepted the Commander's offer.

I've been building a lot of weapons and showed them how it works.

I was about to finish another when the Commander approached me.

"Hey, Peridot. We need another soldier to roam around. Can you do the honor?" He asked.

Cool. I can finally fight some demons.

"Oh. Sure. But I won't take your weapons." I said.

"Why not? You'll get killed out there!" He said.

"Cause I'll be using mine." I said, smirking.

"Heh, whatever you say, Soldier." He said, walking out.

I did a yes gesture and took all of my weapons.

This should be enough for a thousand.

I walked out.

All my weapons hanging from my belt the Commander gave me.

I started walking through the city.

No Demons yet.

This might take a while.

???'s POV

Ugh! Stupid Stupid Stupid!
Why didn't I take that guy seriously?!

I hid myself with a cardboard near the garbage disposal.

I'm probably alone.

Demons roaming around.

I'm gonna die here.

I cried silently.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Huh? Foot steps? Demons fly right?

I peaked through the cardboard holes and saw a soldier.

Though the soldier seem familiar.

The soldier soon looked at my place and I saw the soldier's face.

Peridot?!

She was about to ran off.

"Peridot!" I shouted.

She jumped a little, startled.

"W-who are you?! Show yourself!" She said.

I slowly crept out of the shadows to show my face.

"L-Lapis?!"

Peridot's POV

"L-Lapis?!" I exclaimed.

She smiled.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

She was about to answer when her face changed to a scared one.

"Peridot! Look out!" She shouted.

I turned my head around to see a demon attacking.

I didn't have enough time to dodge so it clawed my face.

Blood dripped at my wound.

I fell to the ground and my weapons fell out of reach.

I saw the demon about to attack.

I braced myself.

Nothing.

I removed my arms from my face and saw Lapis holding a destabilizer that I built.

"P-Peridot? A-Are you okay?" She said, approaching me.

"I-I'm fine. But We have to go back to base." I said, tried to stand up but failed.

Lapis helped me up and we walked slowly.

"Base? Where's that?" She asked.

"It's a few meters away." I said.

We walked a few more meters.

"Since when did you become a soldier?" She asked.

I blushed a bit.

"Ehm. Since I got left out." I said, chuckling nervously.

We continued to walk until we reached the base.

She helped me in and I asked for a medic.

The medic took care of me while Lapis ate.

The medic patched up my face and I thanked her.

Guess I'll be wearing this for a while.

I saw Lapis eating on a table so I sat infront of her.

"Hey." I said.

"Oh, Peridot! You're okay now?" She said.

"Kinda. It still stings. But I'm okay." I said.

She giggled and continued eating.

"So, how come you're here and not with the other citizens?" I asked her.

Her face flushed.

"Ehm. I kinda. Didn't believe the man on the news." She said, scratching the back of her neck.

I chuckled.

"Looks like you have no other choice but to join this army." I said.

She blushed.

"Will it be okay for you?" She asked.

"That's cool with me. I don't actually know these guys yet. Only the commander and those guys." I said, pointing to a group of soldiers that are looking at blue prints.

"Well... Okay. I'll join. But in one condition." She said.

A cache? I like how this is going...

"What is it?" I asked.

"If...I'll fight with you." She said.

She hid her face from me with her hair.

I cuppd her face with my hands.

"Okay." I said, smiling.

Her eyes was filled with happiness and dove at me.

She hugged me.

More like squishing.

I just hugged back and chuckled a bit.

This might not be as bad as I am imagining.
