Sonic Heroes (2003)

There are 12 characters split into 4 teams with 3 characters in each. Each team tells a different story. The teams are Team Sonic with Sonic, Tails, And Knuckles. Team Dark with Shadow, Rouge and Omega. Team Rose with Amy, Cream, and Big. And Team Chaotix with Vector, Espio, and Charmy.

In Team Sonic, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles defeat the evil Dr. Eggman from taking over the world again.

In Team Dark, they defeat Eggman, find Eggman's treasure, and know the truth about Shadow's past.

In Team Rose, they search for Sonic, Chocola Chao, and Froggy.

And in Team Chaotix, they solve a mystery by helping their client, and eventually figuring out that it was Dr. Eggman.

But all along, it was not really the work of Dr. Eggman. It was really the work of Metal Sonic. Metal gathered all of their data with the power of chaos and turned super strong.
They then showed Metal Sonic the real super power of teamwork.

After Team Dark, Rose, and Chaotix defeated Metal Madness, Metal Sonic then transformed into Metal Overlord and flew to the skies. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles then used the power of the seven chaos emeralds, and turned super.

After defeating Metal Sonic, the answer for why Metal didn't defeat them was because they're Sonic heroes. Being in a team is a lot better than being alone.

After that, Amy chased Sonic again, and he ran off with Tails following him. Rouge then went back to Angel Island to try to get the Master Emerald again from Knuckles. Team Chaotix then chased after Dr. Eggman to give them their money from their case. And Omega and Shadow took care of Metal Sonic.

"Alright! Our next adventure awaits us, so there's no time to waste! YEAH WE'RE SONIC HEROES!!!"
