The morning passed by in a blur, as much as I didn't want it to.
Vic and I had woken up early due to him forgetting to close his curtains last night. The sun's harsh glare was the first thing I saw to kick off this not-so-fine day. Though I had woken up in Vic's arms, it hadn't lasted long; reality was coming to slap me in the face quicker than I expected.
He was a man with a job. A job he loved, but a job all the same.
"I gotta sit down and talk over a few new songs with the guys today." He mumbled into my hair. After he had gotten up to shut the curtains, he had jumped back into bed with me to cuddle for a few more minutes.
"That's alright. I should spend some time with Evelyn anyway, she might be having withdrawals." I joked, earning a chuckle from him. We held each other close under the covers, silent for a few minutes more before he broke it.
"Cara... What happened last night? What were you dreaming about?" He looked genuinely concerned for me. It almost made me want to tell him about it, about everything.
Almost.
"Vic..." I began, pursing my lips and feeling unworthy of meeting his eyes. I didn't like keeping things from him. I knew that if he pulled something like this with me I'd feel un-trusted too.
I silently made a pact with myself that the next time we spent the night together, I'd tell him.
"Soon. I'll tell you soon." I promised. He sighed but pulled me in closer to his chest anyways, a silent 'fine'. I was thankful that he left it at that -- at least for now.
Vic dropped me off at my apartment around 10am. I was bummed that I couldn't spend the day with him again, but I knew that he had a duty to the band and I refused to be that girlfriend and drag him down.
Besides, I respected space in a... relationship? It wasn't really a relationship I guess, or at least not yet.
Before I slid out of his car and headed to my apartment, Vic made me promise that I'd eat at least something for breakfast.
"I'm not even hungry." I groaned, jiggling the door handle that he continuously locked. "I'm still stuffed from last night.
"Promise me." There was something in his voice that made me turn to him. His face was serious but his soft eyes were pleading. I sighed and linked his outstretched pinky with mine.
"Fine." I huffed. "I promise."
He grinned at me and pulled me in closer for one last kiss before we parted. It was just as sweet as our first, and that gave me hope that whatever we had together would last.
As promised, I settled with a bagel and cream cheese for breakfast before I called up Evelyn, who answered on the first ring.
"Well hello Mrs. Fuentes, so nice to know you haven't forgotten about me."
"I will choke you." I mumbled through a mouthful of bagel. "We went on one date, Mrs. Perry."
All I heard were giggles on the line followed by a deep breath.
"Really though! I haven't seen you in what? Three days? I'm coming over!" Eve declared with a force before she hung up the phone. I pulled my phone away from my ear, blinked at the 'call ended' screen, and then shrugged, setting it down and finishing my breakfast in peace.
About fifteen minutes later when I polished off my second mug of coffee, Evelyn knocked on the door. "Really, you should just give me a key to this place." She mumbled as I let her in. I let out a short, sarcastic laugh and locked the door behind her.
