i wake up, breathing heavily. dan is laying beside me, sleeping peacefully.
'd-dan?' i stutter. his eyes slowly flicker open.
'phil? what's wrong?' he sits up, his eyes full of worry. he hugs me tightly and starts rubbing my back.
'oh my god. i'm so relieved.' i say, and i start crying.
'phil, why are you crying?' dan asks, his voice soft.
'it's tears of joy. i just had a bad dream.'

okay so if you're confused, whatever happened in the past few chapters was all phil's dream, therefore it wasn't real. so dan and phil are still together, and he woke up on the morning of graduation :)
