At some point or another, you've asked yourself this: Why did I choose fanfic? Why did I choose to do a fanfic in this fandom of all my fandoms that I'm obsessed with? (If you're not obsessed in more than one, I can sniff out a liar.)

Who doesn't love Mr

Who doesn't love Mr. Fizzles? I mean, come on.

Anyway, here's how writing fanfic (no matter the fandom) can benefit you:

*It's a stepping stone. Don't feel courageous/confident enough to make up your own world just yet? Totally okay! That's why fanfic is here! It helps you immerse an OC into your favorite world to help you build up your writing skills, from character, story arc, dialogue, to even writing style!

Trust me, some people may not believe that fanfic helps anybody, but really it does.

*It helps you gain confidence. Sort of goes hand in hand with the above point. It helps you establish yourself as a writer.

*It can be fun. As someone who's done way too many to count, this is true to me. If you love writing fanfic, you'll never feel like it's too much. The ideas will keep popping up and ruling your life.

(Guys, it's too late for me, but it's not for you. Save yourselves.)

*You can meet fellow fanfic enthusiasts

*You can meet fellow fanfic enthusiasts. I kid you not, some of the most awesome people I've met on Wattpad share common fandoms with me. Even though we communicate via Internet, we feel like a tight-knit family. Sort of like the Winchesters, just as dysfunctional too (take my word for it).

*You can learn from it. Believe it or not, you do learn from this. You learn how to do research (because any fanfiction writer knows research goes into this). You learn how to keep characters who they are and don't have them stray from their personality paths. You learn the skills you need to continue when you make that inevitable cross to the original works land (we all go to it at some point, dears).

I know, it's a rather short lesson, but really, all of the above speaks for itself.

Until next week, angels. Sammy out!
