~...had to do it for my daughter before she got older...~

"Daddy!" Harley squealed as she ran down the driveway and into my arms.

"Hey daddy's baby," I smiled squeezing her," where's your bags?"

"I got them," Marlena interrupted handing me over Harley's little suitcase.

"Daddy, can we order a pizza tonight?"

"Um sure why not," I shrugged.

"She doesn't need pizza, Bry. Her allergies have been acting up this week."
Harley frowned with her arms crossed. How could Marlena possibly expect me to say no to that face?

"Fine we won't," I winked at Harley who began to smile.
Marlena grabbed me by my arm.

"I'm serious Bryson. Don't tell me you won't when you are just going to anyways."

I shrugged," Ok, well I am going to. I can't say no to her."

"Part of being a father means that sometimes you will have to lay down the law."

"Don't play me like I don't have proper judgement as a parent," I said through gritted teeth.

"Whatever," Marlena sighed," Harley give mommy a kiss. I'll miss you."
Harley gave Mar a peck on the cheek.

"Bye mommy," she smiled getting into the backseat of my car. I watched her as she did so.

"Aye, I gotta question," I told Marlena.

"What?"

"I'm thinking about going out to Louisville for a couple of weeks. Do some stuff like my music and all that."

"Ok and?" Marlena wondered with her hands on her hips.

"Is it ok if I bring Har with me?" I asked biting my lip.
I hope she doesn't say what I'm thinking she will.

"Bring her to Kentucky? Bryson, you can't possibly think that you can watch Harley and do your career at the same time. You could barely keep track with her when we lived in the same house!"

"We'd never know what I'd be able to do if you don't give me a chance to prove myself. Just like always."

"Don't throw that at me Bryson," Marlena frowned.

"Well it's true. Who's fucking car is this anyways?" I asked pointing to a black Range Rover in the garage.
The car had a customized tag on it that read: KingTre1. I knew for sure that it didn't belong to Mar. Is this one reason why we're splitting too? Is she leaving me for this nigga?

"A friend of mine," she shrug it off," but that's my business."

"You got some random nigga around my daughter?" I questioned getting upset.

Marlena wasted no time moving on I see. Not that I should care though. She's no longer my problem and I'm no longer her 'setback'.

"Bryson chill out. He's a friend and he was helping me move in my things," Marlena protested.

"That's what they all say," I mumbled under my breath.
Mar just rolled her eyes at me.

"Look, I'll let you take her since I need a little break. Plus she'd rather be with you these days than me. But if at anytime she calls me unhappy or something goes wrong up there, I'm coming to get her immediately. Do you understand me?"

I nodded my head with a small grin on my face. I was glad yet surprised that she was actually letting me take Harley along. Even after she had indirectly called me irresponsible. Lately, I had been just that. My entire mind set was off and I was feeling weighed down. Maybe this getaway back home is exactly what I need to refocus myself. Maybe Swan was right.

"Thank you," I told her opening the driver's door to my car," after our Tuesday meeting, we'll be leaving so have her things ready. Please."

"Ok," she sighed blowing Harley a kiss through the window. "And don't drive like a bat out of hell with her in the car either. I mean it."

I smirked as I climbed into the car," You must have my driving confused with your new little boy toy inside."
