Naomi's POV
"Do you like it?" I asked once again as Monica read over my unedited copy of my interview with Chance the Rapper.
Bryson pulled through on the interview and got me someone else.
He told me Chancellor and him became acquaintances when he first started getting into the music business and that he was a real genuine guy.
Since he already had some business to take care of in Covington, KY, he didn't mind stopping by to answer my questions. Chance was easy to talk to when I interviewed him. He was almost an open book and very funny.
By Monica's facial expression, I couldn't decipher if she loved it or hated it. That's why I kept pestering her about what she thought every time her eyes lifted up from off the paper.
Monica bit down on the ear part of her glasses. "Did he tell you his daughter's age?"
I nodded," He told me she was turning two in September."
Monica kept reading with a serious face.
I really hope she likes it because I need this promotion and raise.
"He said his baby mother filed for child support--Did he mention why?"
"No, I didn't ask--"
"You should've. A Senior Executive Editor would have," she shaded.
I bit down on my lip and twiddled my thumbs.
That was strike one for me.
Monica finally placed the paper to the side of her desk. She clasped her hands together and looked me in my face.
"Job well done, Naomi," she congratulated with very little enthusiasm," It's a decent interview. Not too many with him out there, so it's someone other than the Kardashians to hear from."
"Thank you," I replied unsure if that was sarcasm or not.
"I like it enough to publish it in this month's issue...that is after you go back through and fix your small mistakes."
"Of course, that won't be a problem. I'll go start on it now," I said reaching for the paper.
Monica shooed my hand away.
"Not so fast," she warned," I know I said if you got me an interview for this month, you can get the job, but..."
"But..?"
"I have to wait until Meghan turns in her interview paper."
"Meghan? You didn't tell me someone else had a possibility of getting this position. I thought I had it in the bag?" I said growing upset.
"And so far you do, Naomi. You turned it in early and all in all it is a nice paper, but I can't give it to you without looking at all the choices. That would be showing favoritism."
