Today was the day you were waiting for quite some time now. You waited anxiously for your boyfriend, Bucky Barnes, to return from the war. You bite the inside of your cheeks as you roam your eyes around the pier. All night before you go to sleep, you prayed to God to keep Bucky safe. You wished and hoped he was safe.

When you dated Bucky, he told you that he wanted to be a soldier and serve the country. You couldn't really protest because you told him whatever he wants to do, you'll be happy for him. You were happy when you found out that he was going to make his dream come true but you were also scared of the consequences. You knew that there was 80% (or more) chance of dying overseas and only 20% (or less) of coming home as a hero. Bucky's a tough man. He's strong. You saw the proof when he got into a fist fight with two guys when they harassed you.

The last phone call you shared with him was five days ago. He sounded so excited to go home even if there were gunshots at the background. You were both happy and worried about him but he assured you that he was fine and that he'll come home in one piece. But even so, you were scared for him. Watching movies about soldier weren't helping you cope with the situation at all.

And soon, soldiers were coming out of the ship. Women and children were running after them to hug them. You could see them shed tears. You were happy for them, but someone was still missing.

You walked closer to find Bucky. A certain someone caught your attention. It was his best friend, Steve Rogers.

"Steve!" you called out.

He gives you a grin and runs towards you, spinning you around while his hands were wrapped around your waist. "Y/N! Wow, I'm so glad to see you again," he sighed.

"The feeling is mutual." You pull away from him and asked, "Where's Bucky?"

Steve sighs. "I haven't seen him yet."

"He didn't...?" You couldn't bear saying the word for it was too painful to even imagine Bucky in that state.

"N-No, of course not," he answered.

Suddenly, two strong arms wrap around your waist and lifted you. You hear a very familiar voice whisper to your ears, "I'm very much alive, doll."

"Bucky!" you exclaimed. Bucky laughs and puts you down. He spins you around to face him. There he was in front of you as real as he could ever be. Sure, he had some dried blood and wounds on his face and neck but it was so much better than seeing him in a coffin, right?

He cups your each with one hand and the other resting on your hip. "You don't know how much I've missed you," he murmurrd.

"Oh, I think I know, soldier," you said, smirking.

"May I?" he asked, glancing at your lips.

You smile at him. "You don't have to ask. I'm yours after all."

"And I you." Bucky leans down and kisses your lips with so much passion. You linger it. You two have been aching to kiss those lips of his. You hold a tight grip on Bucky's green button up shirt as he deepens the kiss. It was filled with both hunger and burning passion. God, you had missed this feeling.

You both pull away from each other, breathless. Standing close to you, Steve decides to leave you two alone.

"Welcome home, Bucky," you whispered.

He smiles. "I'm home."
