Chapter Eight
July 18, 2014
"You did what?" Christina asked Shawn for the third time. They were at her house with their daughter, yet again. She would be leaving for Chicago later tonight, and Ashlyn was going with her.
"I left and went to her house."
"To do what?"
"Explain what she was seeing."
Christina allowed the laugh to escape her mouth as she picked her daughter up to change her diaper. "Are you stupid or stupid, Shawn?"
"How was that stupid?"
"You're not with her! The one thing that was possibly a deal breaker, you lied about being there for it. She ain't here for you no more."
She grabbed the fresh diaper and began opening it place on her daughter's bottom. Shawn was sitting on the floor in their daughter's room. It was where they spent the most time when he was actually here. She refused to allow him in any other rooms besides their daughter's room, the living room, bathroom, and kitchen. He didn't need to see anymore bedrooms.
"I have hope," Shawn clarified.
"Crock of shit if you ask me."
"Christina.."
"Christina my ass. How do you expect to have a relationship with her when you can't even support the damn woman? Do you even know what support is?"
"I supported you with your business."
"...I see you still lying. You ain't support nothing. I didn't ask you for your permission to open a spa. I told you after I had branded and had my money and building what I was going to do."
"You were too independent."
She laughed once more. "You've lost your damn mind. Listen, I know you were raised in a home where your mother submitted to your father. Your father was the breadwinner, your mother preferred to stay home, have children, and maintain the home. There are still women out there that will do that. But the women you choose? Not going to happen. When you met me I was supporting myself through college, I didn't need you paying for anything."
"But just like her, you didn't decline."
"Who the hell declines free money? Let me know that dumbass, please."
Shawn shook his head as he watched her finish up with their daughter. She was sleepy since Shawn had overplayed her right after she ate.
"So what do you think I should do?" Shawn finally asked.
Christina shrugged. "Be a father. You fucked up big time, really. So right now, I need you to worry about yourself and your daughter. School is starting up, and you'll be going back to work. If it happens, it happens. Have you talked to Kim & Ye since you just left their dinner?"
Shawn shook his head. He had ventured away from his friendship with Kanye, and he really didn't have a reason for it. He was so consumed with making everything right with Beyoncé that he neglected his best friendship.
"Why do you do Ye like that? All the shit that man has done for you? I have to ask. Is her pussy that damn good, Shawn? That man went broke to make sure our family was good when we hit hard times."
"I know, I know!"
"No, you don't. Who was there when you almost lost your job?"
"Kanye."
"Who was there when I kicked your ass out that time?"
"Kanye."
"Who is still going to be there when you come to your senses?"
