Danny's POV

"Danny! Are you dressed yet?" my mom called from downstairs.

"Just a minute," I yelled back as I finished wrapping bandages on my cut arm. After I had gotten home from my encounter with Skulker I had realized I'd been out for 3 hours.

I was able to get some shut eye but was rudely woken up by my mom knocking on my door telling me to get dressed. I had forgotten to dress my wounds from my little battle so I was taking care of them now and it was a pain in the-

"DANNY! Hurry up!" my mom yelled.

"One minute!" I yelled back. The cut was on my upper arm so it would be easy to hide, my burn... not so much. I was right last night when I said I had gotten a minor burn on my back, except it didn't feel like a minor anymore. I heal faster in ghost form so it actually wasn't that bad when I turned back to human but it still hurt whenever to much pressure was on it.

Pushing through the pain, I slipped on a pair of loose blue jeans and a long sleeved red shirt. I brushed my messy raven locks as best I could then headed downstairs.

"Alright, what is so important that I had to be woken up at 8 in the morning on a Sunday?" I asked as I walked into the kitchen.

My parents both had huge grins on their faces and my sister had a large frown on hers. I gulped, this couldn't be a good sign.

"Guess what Danny boy," my dad said as he stood up with a piece of paper in his large hands, "Vladdy invited us to a fancy dinner at City Hall tonight!"

I had to stop myself from screaming 'WHAT' as loud as I could. Instead I said, "If it's dinner, why did you wake me up so early?"

"So we could go shopping of course!" my mother said excitedly.

Oh no, visions of powdered suits, slicked back hair and mom pinching my cheeks flashed through my head.

"No way, I am not going shopping," I said crossing my arms.

My mom sighed, "Danny please, I'll let you choose your own suit and you won't have to be seen with us."

I felt guilty at the way she said it but that did seem like a good deal. I huffed, pulling out my phone to text Fright Knight, "Fine."

She smiled again, "Great, now everyone... TO THE MALL!"

One crazy drive in the Fenton RV later

"How am I supposed to find a suit for a fancy dinner that I don't even want to go to?" I asked my sister Jazz.

"Danny, I'm not happy about this either but there is a more important thing to think about than suits right now," Jazz said.

I peered into a store window, "And that would be?"

"Why would Vlad invite our family to a dinner with him?" Jazz stated.

I froze, Jazz was right. Why would Vlad, my arch-enemy who also hates my dad and wants to marry my mom, invite us to dinner?

"You have a point there," I said as I looked into another store window. Why is finding a suit store so hard?!

"There's also one other thing," Jazz spoke as she placed a hand gently on my shoulder. I turned to face her, she looked worried. She walked us over to a bench and sat down as I sat beside her being careful not to put too much pressure on my back .

"Jazz?" I questioned.

"I've been talking with Sam and Tucker," Oh no here it comes, "They've told me you've been acting weird lately. And just yesterday you made a big scene at Nasty Burger. But that's not what I'm confused about." I raised an eyebrow.

"They contacted me yesterday saying you had been taken by.... Fright Knight. I was so worried. They told me they were going to City Hall to confront Vlad since you told them Fright Knight works for Vlad. They came up empty handed but you can imagine my surprise this morning when you walk into the kitchen safe and sound."

My eyes widened. Tucker and Sam saw me with Fright Knight?! And went to talk to Vlad about it?! That was not good. Vlad is a smart guy, he might be able to figure out what's really going on. I had to hope whatever Sam and Tuck said to him didn't give him any clues.

"Danny what's going on?" Jazz asked putting her hand on my knee. I rubbed my thumb over the spot where the Ring of Rage would be.

"Nothing. Fright Knight grabbed me but I got away." I replied. I hated lying to her.

Jazz and I had gotten really close ever since the alternate evil me incident. While she was still an annoying older sister at times I felt like I could tell her anything. She gave me one of her famous 'I know you're lying' looks.

"Jazz I'm being honest. Nothing is going on. I've just been a little stressed lately."

Before she could go into one of her little rants I got up and walked away. I was able to find a suit store and ducked into it.

"Prince, ring, Sam, Tucker, Jazz, and now Vlad. I just can't get a break," I muttered silently to myself.

A/N: I know it's shorter than what I usually write but I'm saving all the good stuff for the next chapter (yaaaaay). Anyways I'm glad I finally got to get Jazz in this (I always loved her caring sisterly moments with Danny). On a different note since this is a short chapter I will be posting TWO updates today. Hope you like them!
