Here you are
majestically situated
on your horse
for all to know
your brave virtue,
your accomplished deeds
when once you believed
that an angel whispered
words of encouragement,
and inspired an unrelenting elation
though later met
with an alteration
invited by a deception
to conquer, to defeat
to crown, to entreat
In New Orleans-
Did you ever think you would be?
Surrounded by noises
and sweet new voices,
no longer having to deny
your faith-
you strongly stand
to take a stand
as once you did
without (spiritual) defeat
