Vipermask still says nothing.

Ravenkit grins at her.

Beekit looks a little shy of her.

"Were you a warrior?" he asks.

"Yes," Vipermask mews quietly.

"Did you fight in the war?"

"The war didn't start until I came into the elders' den."

"Are you going to be exiled?"

She doesn't say anything after that.

"I don't know," she mutters.

"Oh," he says.

Beekit is still very quiet.

"Ravenkit?" I call his name.

"What?"

"Tell Vipermask about who you were named after."

"Ok," he responds. "I was named after the mighty warrior Ravendusk."

Vipermask's eyes fall to the floor. Her mouth is trembling.

"She was the best warrior in the Clan! But she died saving her clanmates from a fire."

"Yes, she did," Vipermask mews.

Ravenkit looks puzzled. "Did you know her?"

"You could say that," my sister mews.

Watching them talk, I know that Ravenkit will come here day after day to talk to Vipermask.

But Beekit, she'll probably stay with him but not talk as much.

"Kits, it's time for you to try your first piece of prey, isn't it?" I say.

Beekit nods and so does Ravenkit.

"Well, you better hurry up and go eat some before its all gone," I say again, leading them out of the den.

Beekit is the first to leave after saying a quiet "'Bye." Ravenkit's farewell is more heartfelt.
