Request: Could you please do an imagine with Nate, where y/n is with him in Omaha for the first time and his fam's havin BBQ?

"Why so nervous, baby girl? It's just my family. They're just like me, except less cool." Nate joked, slinging his arm around my shoulders as we walked up his driveway. I attempted a smile, although there was no way of hiding how anxious I felt. Nate and I have been dating for a while, so I knew I was bound to meet his family sooner or later, but right now I wished it was happening later rather than today. As soon as he lifted his fist to knock on the door, I pulled on his arm.

"Wait, wait. Do I look okay?" I asked him, paranoia beginning to settle in my apprehensive mind as I smoothed down my dress. Nate held a firm but gentle grip on my shoulders, looking me straight in the eye.

"You look fine, Y/N. Perfect." He assured me before pressing a small kiss to my forehead. I drew a shaky breath and nodded as he proceeded to knock. I felt my heartbeat ringing in my ears, and I could have sworn the whole world could hear it, but it had become a past subject as soon as the door swung open.

"Nate, my baby!" His mother greeted him, instantly pulling him into a hug. He laughed and greeted her, and soon enough it was my turn. I raised a limp hand, smiling and hoping my nervousness wasn't too obvious.

"Mom, this is Y/N, my girlfriend."

"Hi." I greeted quietly. She just laughed and went straight for a hug. I awkwardly hugged back, hearing Nate's snicker behind me.

"Don't be so shy, baby doll. Anyone Nate is interested in is practically family already!" She teased, sending us a wink. Then, with a wave of her hand, she guided us inside the house. "Everybody's out back, but y'all can look around for a bit, if you wanna show Y/N around." She said before stepping back out into the backyard. Nate looked at me with raised eyebrows.

"Well? You wanna see the house?" I glanced around, already getting a sense of homeliness just standing in the living room. Slowly, I nodded, walking over to take his hand. Part of me just wanted to stall because I was still nervous about meeting everybody else, but I truly wanted to get even a small glimpse of what it was like growing up here.

As he walked me around the house, he included little stories about what went on where, and I couldn't help but admire how close he was to this place and his family. It was amazing, really, and at one point I could really see him as an amazing husband and father. After exploring most of the place, he finally took me to his room.

"This is where the magic happens. No suggestion intended." He grinned as he sat on his bed, patting his lap. I followed the gesture and placed myself on his lap, leaning back against his chest as he wrapped his arms around me. "So what do you think?"

"It's a cute place." I laughed softly. "It's interesting to see the place you call home. I like it." I mumbled, looking around his room.

"I'm glad you're here with me." He whispered in my ear before nuzzling his face in my neck. "I'm excited for you to meet everyone else too." At that simple mention, I tensed up again as the nerves returned. It was obvious enough for him to notice right away, so he craned his neck to look at me. "You'll be fine, ma, I promise. Don't stress, aight?" He pressed a small kiss to the side of my neck. I don't know why I was so anxious; I was usually fine with people. It was probably all the what-ifs scaring me off. "We're gonna have to get out there eventually.." Nate reminded me as he held my hands.

"I know, I know." I took a deep breath and tucked my lips before standing up. "Okay, I'm just gonna rip the bandaid off. Let's go." I pulled him up onto his feet and let him take the lead. Before I could even blink, it felt, we were in front of the back door. I looked through the glass and saw everyone having a good time, and all it did was made me feel out of place. I didn't want to intrude on their family time, but Nate began pulling me out anyway. He was greeted with loud hi's and you're here!'s, while I stood timidly behind him.

"Glad to be home, ayy!" He announced before bringing me to his side. "And there's somebody I want y'all to meet. Fam, this is my girlfriend, Y/N. Girlfriend, the fam." He informally introduced, putting me in the spotlight. Once again I was overcome with anxiety, resulting in me only giving a tiny wave and a barely audible, "Hi." I received greetings, and within seconds everybody was back to what they were doing. I looked up at Nate, and he reciprocated my frown with a smile. "Lighten up, baby girl. Let me introduce you to some people, then you'll feel better." He assured, kissing the side of my head.

"Nate, I just wanna go back to my hotel. This was a bad idea." I mumbled, staying close to his side as he walked around. He merely brushed it off with a shake of his head, soon bringing me to a younger and similar-looking mini Nate.

"Stewie boy, what up!" Nate said as he gave the other a hug. "Babe, this is my lil' bro." And before I could even say anything, I was brought into a small embrace. His family must love hugs.

"Yo, Nate's told us a lot about you. I'm Stewart. Do with that what you want." I smiled and nodded, looking up at Nate who seemed slightly flustered by his brother's remark.

"Nate talks a lot about you too! And you two look so similar it's crazy. I'd say you're cuter though." I teased, hugging my arms around Nate's torso.

"Yeah, yeah, let's go before Mr, Steal Yo' Girl takes my girl. See you around, Stew." He said as he ruffled the other's hair. I giggled and waved goodbye while we walked off. Nate looked down at me with a proud smile. "See? Everything's chill."

"I mean, I guess.." I shrugged. It was usually the older people I was afraid of anyway. I wasn't good with intimidation.

"Well are you hungry? Maybe that'll help your nerves." He suggested. I hadn't eaten all day because I was so nervous, so I nodded, and we headed over to the grill. What looked to be his dad and uncle were manning the burgers, and I managed to fix one for myself while Nate caught up with the two men. And with my luck, I had a mouth full when Nate decided to pull me into the conversation. "And this is my girl," He was saying. I could feel my cheeks burning red as I faintly shook their hands. I promptly chewed and swallowed my food before speaking.

"I am so sorry about that, hi." Thankfully, they just waved it off with friendly smiles similar to Nate's.

"So you're the wonderful Y/N he's been blabbing about on the phone." Apparently everyone loves to tease him about his love life. I laughed and nodded like it must be true. "Well you sure are prettier than he described.." Now it was my turn to blush while Nate wrapped a prideful arm around my waist. "But really– Thanks for taking care of our boy out there in LA. Hope he's not too much of a handful." He teased, lightly shaking Nate's shoulder.

"Nah, trust me, Y/N's got a good grip on me." He smiled down at me, only causing a worse blush. Laughing it off, Nate saved me from more embarrassment and bid us off, "Alright pops, we're gonna eat and mess around. Talk later." They hugged, then we were off. We decided to sit in the grass with his aunts who were caring for their little children. Now I was completely comfortable; children were easier to be around. I quickly finished my burger so I could play with the babies, and Nate looked more than amused with the fact.

"They're so cute! How could I not?" I defended, not even looking at him as I made faces with one of his cousins. I could play with kids forever. As I crawled around and chased after the kiddo, Nate laughed suddenly and decided to join the fun. We were all over the grass, rolling around and making monster noises. Watching how his little legs wobbled around, I couldn't help but laugh, only to gasp as he lost his balance. I quickly crawled over, placing him in my lap. "Are you okay, baby? No boo-boos?" I questioned, kissing the top of his head. Nate soon joined us and laid on his side in front of me, holding his hand out for a high five.

"You're all good, right, cuz'?" He smiled as the little hand slapped into his. "Ayy, that's my boy!" Smiling down at the two before me, I couldn't help but imagine the future. Nate's family was more than amazing, and although I was still a little shy, I knew they'd be great people to have around in the long run.

"How do you feel about having a mini Nate?" I asked him jokingly, but I wasn't expecting a real answer like he gave.

"I think it's a great idea. We can start the process tonight." He laughed.
