You walked through the corridors quickly, clutching your bag at your side. Blinking back tears, you crawled through the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room. Luckily, it was empty. You threw yourself on the couch and burst into tears as you recalled what happened after Charms.

You walked out of Professor Flitwick's classroom. You didn't understand why you couldn't get the simple charm. Maybe today was just an off day for you. You were interrupted from your thoughts as you bumped into someone.

"I'm so sorry. I wasn't looking-" you started.

"Ugh. Get away from me, you filthy little mudblood." A notorious voice sneered at you.

"Sorry, I-" you were cut off again.

"I said get away from me." Malfoy pushed you to the ground and his cronies started laughing.

"(Y/n)?" You snapped back to reality as you heard one of your friends, Susan Bones, walk up behind you. You quickly dried your eyes.

"Oh hey Susan." You put a fake smile on your face as you greeted her.

Being a Hufflepuff, everyone expected you to be the happy one in the group. Maybe it was also because that's what you always expected yourself to be. It had gotten a lot harder lately, though, with your depression. The problem was, you didn't even know why you were depressed. That part made you feel really hopeless.

"Hannah was wondering if you wanted to come to her birthday party tonight. It'll be here in the common room." Susan must've bought your fake smile.

"Um, I don't know. I kind of have a lot of homework to catch up on." You lied.

"Oh, well, that's okay. Maybe some other time." She walked off to the dorms and you sighed.

"I need some fresh air." You told yourself. You grabbed your diary and walked out to your favorite tree by the lake.

The area was empty when you got there, so you climbed the tree as you always did. No one knew about your "secret hiding place", and that was why you liked it so much. You inhaled the sweet scent of salt water and began to write your thoughts.

Do you know the feeling when you're so broken inside, but you can't show it because no one else will understand? That's what I feel all the time. I've been really depressed, and I don't even know why. I can't tell any of my friends, because they just don't know how it feels. The only way I can cope is by keeping a diary. I just hope this ends soon.

You closed the cover and were about to climb down the tree when you heard a silent "Accio" and your diary flew out of your hands. You turned just in time to see Draco Malfoy running back towards the castle with your diary.

You quickly leapt out of the tree branches and sprinted behind the thief. If he read what you had written, he would never stop bullying you. Pulsing with adrenaline, you pushed yourself to run faster after him. After a few corridors, you lost any sign of him. You paused for a moment when you heard a voice.

"Looking for this?" You turned around and saw Malfoy standing behind you with your diary in his hands and a smug look on his face.

"What do you want, Malfoy?" You spat. He only chuckled.

"Oh, nothing really." He said passively as he began to open the cover. You reached to grab it out of his hands but he pulled it away and started to read.

The smirk on his face slowly disappeared and was replaced by a frown as he read further.

"(Y/n), is this really how you feel?" Malfoy asked you.

There's no point denying it now. You thought and nodded in response. He seemed to be at a loss for words.

"Wow, I... I had no idea. I'm sorry, (Y/n)." Draco looked you in the eye and you could tell he was being sincere.

Then he did something completely unexpected- he hugged you. When he broke it, you were shocked.

"Come to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?"

"Sure." You said.

You still couldn't process what was happening, and it didn't hit you until you returned to the common room, where you saw Susan and Hannah staring at you with surprised looks on their faces.

"(Y/n), you have a date with Draco Malfoy?" Hannah asked.

"How did that happen?" Susan added.

"I don't know," you replied, "but I'm glad it did."

Sorry I don't really know how to end this. Let me know what you think and if you have any requests!
