The past few weeks have been for the most part normal. Drew was right. I really hadn't seen winter in full force. A blizzard had blown in over the weekend and everyone had retreated indoors.

He still came into the café daily give or take a few days and still stared at me with the same expression. We hadn't spoken since our impromptu kiss.

I couldn't help but to think back to it every time I saw him.

During the blizzard I stayed indoors the whole time. I wasn't sure to expect but the news said it was to be the biggest of the season. I had picked up lots of water, a radio, flashlights, candles, and many canned goods. I had hoped the power wouldn't go out but knowing my luck, it probably would. I was grateful that my home had a real fireplace instead of an electric one.

Even though my heat was on full blast, the cold from outside still wormed its way in. No matter where I went, it was there.

Sitting on the couch, I grabbed the book I was currently reading. It was a cliche and tacky romance book I'd gotten on sale. However as cliche as it was I couldn't put it down.

Perhaps I wanted to be swept off my feet by some charming man. Sadly that hadn't happened yet.

Opening the book, I turned to the page I was previously on and began reading. I was about 3/4 of the way done with the book when I heard a ear shattering pop and I was suddenly encased in an inky black.

I hated the dark.

Sighing, I closed my book and blindly placed it next to me on the couch. Using the couch as my guide, I made my way to the kitchen counter to try and light some candles. After a moment of aimlessly wandering in the dark, my hand finally came in contact with the lighter. Using the lighter to find a candle, I quickly lit it and used it as a torch to lead me to the door.

Opening the door was an awful idea.

Outside was a complete whiteout. The wind blew the snow sideways unrelentingly. I couldn't even make out the house that was directly across from mine. My hair was being whipped all around but for some reason I had the sudden inclination to step out. It was if something was summoning me.

Shaking my head, I shut the door and returned to my position on the couch. The house was eerily quiet and the silence was defeating. Without the hum of the electronics and lights, I could hear every creak and groan of the house from the beating of the weather outside.

The wind howled ferociously and I decided I needed something to block out the quiet. Grabbing my phone I was relieved to see that I still had cell service. I dug in my bag and retrieved my headphones.

Before I could plug in the headphones in my ear, a sharp knock had me snapping my head up.

What the hell?

Surely it couldn't be the door. There's no way anyone could be out there in that weather. I was prepared to ignore the door when my doorbell rang out with the ridiculous chime my mother thought was a good idea.

As much as I didn't want to, I stood up and made my way over to the door. I didn't want to open it but what if it was someone who needed help? I'd feel awful. Throwing caution to the wind, I grasped the doorknob and opened the door slightly.

Didn't need the snow blowing in.

Peeking around the door, my face contorted into a frown. Standing there covered in snow was Kyros. He looked..sad. That was an interesting look on his face. I desperately wanted to smooth out the creases in the middle of his eyebrows.

"Well, are you going to let me in or am I going to stand out here and freeze to death?" His tone didn't give away much but I could tell a lot by his facial features. Opening the door wider, I shuffled aside to let him in.

Closing the door behind him, I watched as he took off his shoes and his coat and hung it on the coat rack.

How in the hell was he able to see where it was? It was pitch black in here.

"How can you see?" He easily maneuvered his way to the couch and sat down while motioning for me to sit down next to him. After careful maneuvering, I finally made it over to him and sat down being sure to leave a considerable distance between us.

"Aren't you gonna answer my question?" He sat with legs spread and his head tilted up.

He sighed and tilted his head to face me. "I just walked through a blizzard to come and see if you were okay. Give me a moment to recuperate will you?"

"No one asked you to do that." What the hell was his problem?

"Well excuse me for fucking caring. Everyone knows it's your first winter here." He seemed agitated now. Good.

He turned away and let out a deep sigh. "My mother..she lives three houses down and she said the power went out and I knew you lived on this street so.."

I looked at him in awe. "You walked all the way here just to see if I was okay..? Kyros..you didn't have to do that."

He shivered slightly when his name escaped my lips.

"I wanted to." He looked at me with such a strong feeling in his eye that I needed to look away.

"Evathia..look at me." His voice had become husky. I could feel that he was closer to me. I couldn't look at him.

The irresistible pull between us was too much. I knew if I looked into his eyes that I'd be a goner.

"Evathia.." I could feel his breath on the back of my neck. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up at the sudden intrusion.

His hand had slid on my thigh. It was static. Didn't move. The warmth and proximity of his hand caused sharp shocks to run up to my core. I wanted to ignore him. I truly did.

I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat. "K-Kyros..what are y-you doing?"

His mouth was directly in front of my ear. I could feel his tongue shoot out and graze my earlobe, "Giving in."

A sharp intake of breath into my mouth. He slid me into his lap. I still hadn't seen his face. I didn't resist him. I didn't have the power to. I could feel him under me.

Pure man.

I could hear his sharp intakes of breath. The rapid rising of his chest.

In. Out. In Out.

He was rubbing soothing circles into my thigh. Always the same spot. Always the same pace. He had leaned his forehead on my back. It felt good. This felt right.

I'm not sure how long we stayed like this but the blizzard outside was long forgotten. It was just Kyros and I. Somewhere along the road I dozed off. It was impossible not to. He was a personal heater.

My personal heater.

Waking up, our positions had switched somehow. He laid on his back while I was in top of him. My head was laid squarely on his chest. On top of his heart. I didn't move.

His breathing was even now. No more short pants. I looked at him through my lashes and he was even more beautiful than the first time I saw him sleeping. This was nice.

Freeing myself from his grasp after much difficulty, I padded my over to the window. I hoped the blizzard had cleared out. Opening the windows wide, it revealed a white wonderland. Everywhere you looked, snow covered it.

This snow was nothing like the inch we got in Texas one. That snow was dirty. Tainted. This snow was pristine and untouched by anything. I placed my hands on the window pane. The cold was there too. It's traveled through my hands and down my body. A shiver escaped me but I still didn't move. I was entranced by mother natures beauty.
