I woke up with a sore back and neck, my head pounding, I winced as I sat on the edge of my bed and rubbed at my muscles to try to ease the stiffness. The events that happened the day before coming into mind. I couldn't shake off the feeling of a heavy weight on my chest, the weight of the hockey player and his fists slamming down on the padding of my gloves I used to desperately protect myself.

Chills ran up and down my whole body, images of Adam beating him into a bloody pulp in front of the entire arena replacing my thoughts. The rage in his eyes and the force of his punches wouldn't ever let me forget that he was capable of something so extreme. I inhaled, feeling the same pit that I felt in my stomach yesterday.

I let out a shaky breath before standing from the whining bunk bed I shared with my sister, silently making my way over to my dresser and pulling out a random outfit before tiptoeing to the bathroom, careful to not wake the sleeping girls.

After closing the door behind me, I glanced on my appearance and cringed. Drool lines ran down my chin and to my neck while acne appeared out of nowhere on my face over night. My tousled hair flopped over my face and I huffed, reaching over to my hairbrush to fix the mess. It took a few minutes of untangling until the nest was brushed away and I whipped my long brown hair into a ponytail.

I washed my face, sighing in relief as the cold water splashed onto my skin, droplets racing down my neck. I quickly wiped it all up with a nearby towel before grabbing my toothbrush and the minty paste us girls all shared. I know it sounds unhygienic, but Julie realized she was out and didn't bother getting a new one. Connie and I were used to sharing ever since we were born, so we didn't see it as much of a problem.

I couldn't help but notice new purple bruises scattered on the tops of my arms, remembering having to use them to block the boys punches towards my face. I frowned, hating the sight of them. But I shook my head to get myself to try and forget the events, hoping that everyone else would too.

After finishing brushing my teeth and getting changed, I left the restroom, my eyes falling on my sister who seemed to have just woken up while Julie was still passed out. The girl was practically buried under the mountain of blankets she had, I was amused she could breath under all of it.

My stomach groaned loudly, my face twisted as I clutched onto the hoodie clothing me,"Can we go to breakfast?" I asked Connie, impatiently.

She glanced up at the clock, it glaring the numbers 8:19 am, she frowned, "Well, breakfast doesn't start until 8:30, it's best we get there first so the boys don't eat all the food, literally." She lifted from the mattress that creaked under her, her feet taking her into the shared bathroom.

I let out a sigh, plopping down on the chair in our mini living area. My gaze fell on the view in front of me, I was so grateful that we got this room, the scenery was astounding. The sunshine beams flickered on the towering buildings that surrounded us, the backed up traffic on the highways as everyone made their way to their nine to five.
