King•

It's been about a year since that night Trae broke up with me. Genevieve constantly ask why we don't live with Trae anymore I've ran out of answers to that question I can't and I won't allow myself to tell her the real answer thankfully she's still in Genevieves life this is actually her week to have her.
I was so deep in my thoughts I didn't realize someone was knocking on my door. I groaned as I got up to open the door to see Trae standing there smiling "Hey Kiya" Trae said blushing
"Hey Trae. Genevieve will be ready in a minute." I say as I let her in we sit down and wait for Gene I keep glancing at her I do love I really do but I can't get over the things that happened. Genevieve finally came smiling and ran to Trae hugging and kissing her I gave Gene a kiss as they left as soon as the door closed the tears fell. It's been an year and I'm still not over her! I finally stopped crying and decided to go to a local bar to get a drink.

"Hey you! " Larkin said with a warm smile
"Hey Lar I'll just have my regular. " I said trying to sound happy but of course she seen right through it.
A few minutes passed and she brought me my rum and coke sighing softly
"What's wrong Kiya? " Larkin asked with concern I bit my lip trying not to cry she knows the whole story between Trae & I we actually became good friends so I didn't mind telling her anything.
I looked down at my drink
"Everytime I look at her I want to cry and ask why.... Like why can't I get over her?" I asked looking at her teary eyed she looked sad herself
"I know how you feel love it took me a while to get over my ex girlfriend. It just takes time you'll get over her and find someone new in no time. " Larkin said as she hugged me she had other patrons so I understood why she had to leave.
I sat sulking without even realizing it. I sighed as my mind started to drift away to when Trae was my everything and I was hers now look at us.
I drank the last of my drink hoping that'll be my relief only to realize it made me think of her more
"Hey why are you so down? " a velvet smooth voice asked me I didn't even bother to look up
"Thinking about my ex girlfriend." I said hoping she just leave but she didn't
"Wanna talk about it? " The mysterious female asked
"Why do you care?" I asked defensively looking up only to be stopped in mid-sentence my mouth instantly went dry and I couldn't think of anything to say she was beyond gorgeous. I guess I started staring by the way she was trying to get my attention I finally look away blushing in embarrassment
"I'm I'm sorry." I say shyly

"You're fine love

"You're fine love. As I was saying everything will be okay. My name is Brinley but my friends call me Bri. " Brinley said extending her hand for me to shake it. I did "I'm Kiya but everyone calls me King. " I said she smirked
"Nice to meet you. We should hang out some time. Here's my number hit me up tomorrow. " Brinley said as she got up to leave. I smiled as I watched her walk away I got up to pay and leave as I left she stopped me again
"Hey Kiya um wanna go grab something to eat? " she asked I nodded and smiled as we left the bar.
It just lunch nothing to it don't start to like her. Don't catch feelings don't catch feelings whatever you do don't catch feelings I said to myself mentally as we walked to the diner.
