Jackson POV

I wanted to go to her the second I reached the clearing. I had it all planned out in my mind. I would break through the tree line, throw out a howl to let the Alpha know that I was home, and then run straight for her house. From there I was sure we would have a welcome home party, just the two of us. That's not how it work out though.

I was enraged when I saw the line of hunters facing my pack, and even more rage bubbled inside of me when I saw Sadie and her family watching from their kitchen window. It was all I needed to speed into action. I remembered what Trent had told me about the hunters wanting Sadie, those idiots thinking that her blood held some sort of magic to it. I knew that they were attacking for her, hoping to break through our defenses and snatch her up, but I wasn't going to let that happen. I was home now, and nothing would harm her.

I didn't have to tell any of the other wolves what to do, they just followed me, and as one unit we attacked. One by one we took them down, ripping into their flesh and tearing it apart. We had the element of surprise and it helped tremendously.

The fight had been pure chaos. Everyone went for whichever hunter was closest to them, sometimes two or three wolves going for the same hunter. I was sure that during the anger filled haze that took over every single one of us, some of my pack was either hurt by or hurt some of the other wolves. None of that was intentional, like I said it was just pure chaos.

The fighting seemed to go on forever. All I could taste, all I could smell was the metallic sting of fresh blood. Although my wolf was enjoying every second of it, I was cringing. I had seen enough death, tasted enough blood, and fought enough to last a lifetime. Even if I didn't get into another fight for the rest of my life, I would still be haunted. That I was sure of.

Finally the hunters that were still standing began to retreat, running off into the woods, screaming profanities and promising that this wasn't the end. That made something snap inside of me, I knew it wasn't the end, but I wanted the next fight to be the last and I wanted it on my terms.

I shifted quickly and dove for a fleeing hunter. My body slammed into his causing him to yell out in pain as his body took all the punishment of the hard ground beneath us. I shoved my body up, but kept a firm grip on his arm. "On your feet," I growled.

"Go to hell," he responded, keeping his head close to the ground.

I forcefully yanked him to his feet, dislocating his shoulder in the process. The man reacted quickly, thrashing about and yelling. The more he tried to break free, the harder I held onto him. I wanted to take him in alive, but he was testing what little patience I had left.

"What's all this?"

I took my eyes off the hunter and looked over to see Mark. "Alpha," I said, bowing my head slightly.

"Welcome home son," he said, giving me a slight slap on my back, "now what's this?"

"Forgive me, but I can't tell you until we can speak in private. I would like to question this man." It took all my will power to speak respectfully. I was too exhausted, too wound up, and too pissed off to deal with the formalities of talking with the Alpha. It had been too long since I had actually had to worry about such things, I was surprised I even remembered my place.

"Alight Jackson," he said calmly, "but I will be requiring an explanation soon."

"Yes sir," I nodded my head.

The moment we began walking back towards the house, the hunter began to thrash about more forcefully, trying his damnedest to get away from me. He began spouting out scriptures from the bible, calling us beasts from hell, and creatures of death. I let it go on for most of the walk, but when he started yelling about our evil children and harlot women I lost my cool.
