Chapter 3.

Eto na. Nandito na ko kung saan lahat ng mga pangarap at mga plano ko ay mag-uumpisa. This is it, and I'm really excited what's going to happen next to me here. I immediately grab my things, my mum behind me helping me to carry my luggages. Good thing hindi ako masyadong maraming abubot sa buhay kaya di namin kailangang bumalik pa ulit dito para sa mga matitirang gamit. I mumbled to my mum thanks after we all gather all my things on the car.

"Griffin State University." I read aloud, admiring the beautiful sign of the uni and my mum smiled, she knows what's on my mind.

"Here's the map of the uni Kleinz," she handed me the map and immediately looked at it. "So okay, we're here at the front park mum and then, we're going to take the left mum." I told her and she nods. Buti nalang hindi masyadong malayo sa front gate, para kung may pupuntahan man ako hindi ko kailangan pang hanapin yung mga directions, ang hina ko pa naman pagdating sa mga directions.

Once na nasa dulo na kami ng front, we took the left side at naglakad pa ulit hanggang sa marating namin yung entrance na may nakalagay na 'Single Dorm Rooms Building'. Agad akong lumapit sa taong nasa front desk, babae sya. Maganda, chocolate brown yung buhok nya at colour brown yung mga mata nya.

"Hello, good morning. How can I help you?" Can't she be a little nice to people? She eyed me from head to toe. Digust and annoyance was cleared in her tone, but of course since I'm new here pinag balewala ko lang yun. Yun naman palagi kong ginagawa.

"Hello, I'm Kleinz Monteclara and I'm a freshman here. I booked a dorm here a week ago." I ignored her not-so-good attitude earlier and I smiled, a true smile unlike of what's she's doing right now.

"Okay, please wait." She gestured to the couch on the side of the front desk and I obliged it taking a seat with my mum. Nasa harap na sya nang computer ngayon, checking my name and identification surely. After a few more minutes on checking the computer she walked into the cabinet of keys and grabbing one.

"Ms.Monteclara?" she called my name and I immediately stand and went to the front desk. After I'm already on the front she asked some questions, identifying me if I'm really the Kleinz Monteclara kahit pwede ko namang ipakita sakanya license id ko.

Boredom was so clearly in face and voice,"Here's your key Ms.Monteclara, your room is on Room 28A at the second floor. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here." She handed the key to me and I told her thanks, I wonder kung paano sya nakakatagal sa trabaho nya kung parang tamad na tamad sya sa trabaho nya, parang ayaw nya dun. Pero sana, maging nice naman sya kahit papaano.

Nilapitan ko mum ko, aayain ko na sana sya nang magsalita sya. "Kleinz can you wait me here for a little while? May nakalimutan ako sa car." Ano naman kaya yun? Andito nang lahat ah?

"Yes mum." I smiled while nodding the entrance hall to her.

She walked/jogged halata mong medyo nagmamadali. I watched hanggang sa makalabas sya, umupo ulit ako sa couch at kinuha ko yung phone ko sa bulsa ko. I've got 1 message, di ko man lang naramdaman nung natutulog ako. Binuksan ko yung message at nakitang galing ito kay Lora, pinsan ko.

I smiled after reading her text to me, si Ate Lora talaga kahit kailan laging nandyan para saakin kahit wala talaga sya personally pero palagi pa ring nakasuporta saakin. She's my bestfriend and best cousin, alam nyang lahat saakin at ganoon din naman ako sakanya, we always support each other parehas kaming solong anak kaya parang magkapatid na talaga turingan namin. 3 years lang tanda nya saakin pero she can like a 12 years old kid, pero when it comes to serious things naman eh seryoso talaga sya at lumalabas ang pagka matured nyang ugali. Mamaya ko nalang sya rereplyan or tatawagan pag tapos ko makapag-ayos ng mga gamit ko sa kwarto ko.

"Waaa! Papunta na dito si Justher!" Nagulat ako sa medyo pasigaw na may kilig na malakas na sabi nung babae sa front desk. Boyfriend nya siguro yun, grabe mag-react e.

"Ano ba Riah, ang ingay mo naman! May tao oh." Sabi nung guard at tumingin saakin. Oh, so Riah pala name nya.

"E sa parating na si Justher e, nagtext na sya saakin.. wait mag-aayos lang ako ng konti." Reklamo nya sa guard, agad-agad naman syang nag-ayos. Naka-VCut blouse sya na fit, tas naka-curl din maayos yung buhok nya. Binaba nya yung blouse nya at binuksan nya yung dalawang butones nun at makikita mo kahit medyo malayo ka sakanya, kita na yung dibdib nya. Tumingin sya sa salamin at nag apply ulit ng make-up.

Oh, that's not my thing.

After feeling satisfied with herself she positioned herself again in the front desk, parang handa na syang karinderya para sa lahat.

Looking at the entrance hall, I saw my mum holding a yellow box with ribbon on the top of it. Ano yun regalo? Pero parang medyo malaki ah? At bakit di ko nakita yun kanina?

Sinalubong ko sya, para kasing nabibigatan sya sa hawak nya e. "Mum, ako na po." Alok ko at binigay nya naman, "thank you. Ano okay na ba? Pwede na ba tayo magpunta sa room mo?" Sunod-sunod na tanong nya. Kahit na medyo nagtataka pa ko sa dala nyang to sinagot ko pa rin sya. "Yes, nasa akin na po, tara na mum sa 2nd floor po ako Room 28A." I tell her and grab my luggages and started to walk.

Habang paakyat na kami sa hagdan nagtanong ang mum ko, "Bakit parang nag-iba ng konti yung itsura nung babae sa front desk? Parang nadagdagan yung make-up nya at yung damit nya.."

I cut her off, "Riah. Riah yung name nya, she squealed kanina ng malakas. Kinikilig na ewan at sobrang excited nya. Parating na raw yung.. Justher? Yeah Justher nga. Boyfriend nya ata kasi ganoon yung reaction nya e."

"Ah. Siguro nga." Sang-ayon ng mum ko saakin. Nang makatapak na kami sa 2nd floor agad kong hinanap yung room ko, naglakad pa kami habang tinitignan yung pinto ng mga rooms hanggang sa marating ko yung dulo ng hall at dun ko nakita yung pinto na may sign na 'Room 28'.

"This is perfect mum, nasa dulo ng hall yung room ko. Wala masyadong ingay kung saka-sakali.At hindi ko rin sila maabala kung mag-iingay ako." I tell with full of happiness, my day just started being great. This is awesome.

"I know. You should be really thankful then," she smiled and I hugged her.

"Thank you for everything mum," I whispered in her ear still hugging her, she hugged me back and kissed my cheek.

"Anything for my baby girl." She gave me a slight smile because I know she's already fighting her tears back.

I am really going to miss her.

When she pulled back, I put the key to the ignition of the door and unlocked it. Slowly opening the door and entering. Taking the whole image of the room, when I already saw the whole room I smiled from ear to ear.

This is really is it. Welcome GSU, welcome FREEDOM. You're being really good to me, umpisa palang pero napakabuti muna saakin.
