17: A Conversation with Dashed
"You planned all of these?" my mouth automatically went into awe when Dashed pulled the car's door for me.
We were in the center of a large park now, with no one else around except for us and the two waiters waiting by the arch adorned with heart-shaped balloons. This public land is miles away, but surprisingly, it didn't matter to me.
"It's worth it," he nodded slowly, so I plastered a genuine smile.
We started walking, and I tried to roam around my eyes. To be truthful, I had never experienced this kind of date before. Teegan was definitely wrong.
Petals of red and white roses were scattered across our way. Below the acacia tree, which was filled with shining lights, was a set of tables with two chairs. I couldn't stop my mouth from falling open.
This was just too good to be true.
"Is this what they call... a candlelight dinner?" I asked Dashed and faced him with my bemused eyes.
He just smiled at me and ushered me along the way. Sa tuwing nakakaapak ako ng rose, feeling ko there's something in my stomach na nagwawala at hindi ko alam kung ano 'yon.
But is it really all about the roses?
Scratch that.
He pulled out a chair for me, and I felt a soft cotton covered my shoulders— it was his coat, and it smelled amazing. Napangiti ako dahil d'on.
Sometimes, it's really a wonder how sweet and gentleman he could be.
Dashed just sat there, looking at me, while we waited for them to finish. Nakahalumbaba siya't nakangiti nang malapad.
Lihim din tuloy akong napangiti. Ang pogi niya kasi talaga at...
Oo na, kinikilig na ako.
"This is our first date," he said softly, then played with his brows.
Nakakatuwa kasi even though he's not really my boyfriend, he's giving me these experiences that I've never had in my past relationships.
"Ang ganda rito," I beamed sweetly at him. "For the whole three months na nagstay ako rito sa Pilipinas, this is honestly the first time I've been to this place. It was jaw-dropping!"
The waiters left and it was just the two of us again. There was a lot of food on the table. There was a wine glass and a blueberry wine. And of course, the candles.
Right. Everything was perfect I couldn't ask for more!
"We should do this more often," he suggested as he started eating.
Even the food was sweet and delicious!
"Parte pa rin ba 'to nang pagpapanggap natin?" I curiously asked him but he just shrugged his shoulders.
"You may consider this to anything that makes you feel comfortable, Bronwyn."
"E naguguluhan kasi ako kung saan ba sa ginagawa natin ang totoo... at aling yung hindi." gaya ng ginawa niya, nagkibit-balikat din ako.
"Let's just act natural."
"Natural lovers?"
"Lovers, huh?" mapanuksong sabi n'ya. "I like the term. It's quite modish."
Tumikhim ako.
"Ganyan ka ba talaga mang-asar?" I rolled my eyes. "I mean, don't get me wrong. Boyfriend nga kita pero wala naman akong kaalam-alam tungkol sayo."
Umiling siya sa'kin at bahagyang ngumuso, as if trying to hold back a grin. "My life is boring."
"So? I'm interested to listen naman," sabi ko sabay subo ng fried rice. "I want to know more about you, to be honest."
"Alright," he flashed a killer smile. "What do you want to know about your boyfriend?"
"About you?" ulit ko na ikinakunot ng noo n'ya.
"Bakit? May iba ka pa bang boyfriend bukod sa'kin?"
Namula ako. "S-syempre.."
"Syempre ano?"
"Syempre, wala!"
I averted my gaze away from his eyes when his lips shaped up into a frisky smirk.
"So it's just me, then," pakiramdam ko'y tumaas lahat ng balahibo ko nang makita ko ang nakakasilaw n'yang ngiti. "So, ano nga ulit 'yong gusto mong malaman tungkol sa'kin?"
My lips quivered.
I cleared my throat. "Your ideal types, your likes, dislikes, and stuff."
"You mean, the type of girl I like?"
Unti-unti akong tumango. "But only if you don't mind—" he briskly cut me off.
"It's you."
A big question mark instantly floated over my head when he said that.
"What do you mean it's me?"
"Look at yourself."
"And then?"
"That's my answer for your question." he winked at me.
"H-Huh?"
Geez. I hate assuming so I have to confirm what he means!
"Ikaw." ulit n'ya. "Ikaw 'yung type ko."
Pigil-hininga ko siyang binalingan ng tingin at tinaasan ng kilay. He really had his own way of captivating me, huh?
