I woke up with a sudden pain all over my back. I could feel the warm liquid running down my spine. I got up quickly trying to keep from getting blood all over my carpet. Running over to my mirror I lifted my shirt to see the the cuts all over my back had opened. Trying to put pressure on my back I grabbed a pillow to scream into. The pain was almost unbearable.

I tried to lay back down only shooting right up again as the pain began to creep through my body. I looked over to my phone to see it was only 1:47 in the morning. I knew sleeping was going to be rough but this is ridiculous. I laid on my stomach not moving and let my back get some air.

I drifted to sleep only to have a banging on my door.

"Chloe get up! You're going to be late for school!" My step mother screamed at me from the other side of the door.

Getting up I look at my phone to see it was 7:15 in the morning. Quickly I shot out of bed immediately regretting it but got dressed. I brushed my naturally wavy hair and called it good for today. I grabbed my converses and put them on without tying them. Grabbed my book bag I hauled ass down the stair. Grabbing a granola bar from the pantry, I left without saying goodbye to my step mother. Getting into my black and gold Chevy durmax I let the engine roar to life. I sped to school getting there right as the first bell rang.

I ran to my first class and got there just as the tardy bell rang. I took my seat next to my best friend Lilly and she just sat there laughing.

"Good morning sunshine" she said laughing.

"Morning" I said sitting down but wincing at the pain as my back made contact with the chair.

She immediately saw my reaction and stopped laughing. Lilly was the only person in this entire world that knew what my step mother does to me. She looked at me with sad and hurtful eyes.

"I'll tell you later" I whispered to her.

All she did was nod and look back at the teacher. I knew that this killed her not being able to tell her parents or even the police but she promised me she would say a word.

After class we walked to my locker and she just stared at me. I knew I was going to have to tell her but I didn't want to right now.

"Lee you need to tell someone about this. Its getting out of hand." She began to say but I cut her off.

"Fine we don't have to talk about it right now but you will be telling me what happened." She stated

I nodded and began to head to my next class. I went to sit down in my regular seat when I stopped suddenly. Sitting in my spot was this handsome guy. He had the most amazing emerald eyes. His black hair curled at the tips slightly and his smile was pure heaven. I just stood there staring not knowing what else to do.

"Um... Excuse me but you're sitting in me seat." I finally said a little nervous.

"Oh I'm so sorry." He said in a deep husky voice that made my stomach drop.

"My names Luke." He said extending his hand and giving me a breath taking smile.

I took his hand and slightly smiled back.

"I'm Chloe." I said shyly

"Well it was nice meeting you Chloe. Hopefully I'll see you around a little more." He said still smiling

I nodded not knowing what to say and just sat down. I couldn't help but glance at home every now and then. He was doing the same as me though.

After the bell rang I made it to my locker where Lilly was already waiting for me.

"Oh my lord!! Have you met the new guy yet!?! I hear he's totally hot!" She said yelling like a little three year old that just walked into a candy shop.

"Yeah I met him last hour. He's in my Chem 2 class." I said.

She just smiled at me and wiggled her eyebrows. I couldn't help but laugh but as soon as I did the pain shot up again causing me to stop laughing. I told her I would see her at lunch and walked to my next class. I sat down and as soon as I did in walked Luke. He saw an empty seat next to me and took it right away. I couldn't help but smile a little.

"Nice seeing you again." He said once again with that smile.

This was going to be an interesting day.
