Drabble: We Should Try That

A/N: Okay, so after THAT FRICKEN MATTORY SHIP TEASE in the season seven premiere, (SHOWN ABOVE BECAUSE I'M DYING) I had to do something to get my feels out XD Also, it's my and my boyfriend's second anniversary today (Oct. 3) so I was debating throwing something together anyways. This idea's been in my head since... oh, probably halfway through Ridiculous? I intended to do a full oneshot for it but realized I really couldn't flesh it out enough, so I turned it into more of a short 'drabble' instead. AND, just so it's clear, I'm not intending to be mean or call out any of my fellow Mattory fanfic writers: y'all are awesome and you need to keep doing what you're doing. I'm just poking a bit of meta-fun, mainly at myself. Without further adieu:

January 1st, 11 am

"Do you know there are people who write fanfic about us?"

New Year's Day, and this is what my fiancé wants to talk about?

"Somehow, I'm not surprised," I told him dryly. "Tell me none of it's weird."

"Well..."

January 2nd, 2 pm

"What are you doing?"

"What do you mean?"

"You've been glued to your phone all day, Matt. What are you up to?"

"I'm reading."

"Reading what?"

"Nothing."

So I distract him. As soon as I feel his lips part in response to my own, I snatch his phone and make a sound of victory. "Ha!"

"What're you—"

I cut him off with a look. "You're reading fanfic."

"Maybe."

"About us."

"Well, yes."

"Why?"

"Morbid fascination."

January 2nd, 11 pm

He sits in bed. I work on my laptop. It's become a familiar scene in the last few months.

"We should try that."

"Try what?" I ask, not entirely paying attention. "Are you still reading what I think you're reading?" I demand when I realize what he's up to.

In response, he waggles his brows and proceeds to read a rather steamy passage aloud to me.

I glare at him.

"Like I said. We should try that."

Honestly, he should have expected me to throw the pillow at him.
