Lauren's P.O.V

---

As I made my way to the park that day, I felt something strange in the bottom of my stomach that I couldn't explain with words.

Excitement? Nerves?

I wasn't completely sure.

I smiled at the familiar sound of dead leaves crunching underneath the weight of my shoes while I walked to that park bench at a steady pace. I took my time to drink in my surroundings, there were quite a few clouds in the sky today, but not enough to cover up the sun. I allowed it's usual rays of shine to whisper against and warm my skin, internally hoping for a tan one day. Aw shit, who am I kidding.

The wind lost itself in the grass, causing it to flow gently back and forth with the steady gusts that trailed throughout the park. When I turned to look to my left, I saw Camila sitting at her bench again and started to make my way over.

The past two days she had been staring at the ground, but this time her brown eyes were scanning the park, as if she was waiting for me.

When our eyes met, she smiled.

'Hi Camila.' I gave her a warm greeting when I had finally made it to the bench. 'Can I sit here?'

'You know, you don't have to keep asking.' Camila shot me a look, and I only shrugged before I sat down next to her.

'Yeah I know, gosh I'm just trying to be polite.' I was a little surprised when she held the ice-cream in her left hand out to me straight after I had sat down. 'Ah, thanks.' I found myself mumbling out my appreciation as I took the cold treat from her. She didn't say anything, she only turned to continue eating her own.

I was slightly surprised when I tasted the ice-cream; it wasn't chocolate like it had been the past two days.

'Caramel, huh?'

'Yeah, I figured I might as well change things up and make it exciting if you're only gonna come sit with me for my ice-cream.'

'Can't argue with that reasoning.' I chuckle to myself. 'Variety is the spice of life.'

'Why do you come to the park, Lauren?' Camila inquired and when I looked, she had a thoughtful expression on her face.

'Because you're here?' I answered with a question and when she glared, I held my hands up in defense. 'Okay okay. It's the ice-cream.' Camila's angry pout was now so intense that I was worried the world might end if I didn't give her an answer she was happy with.

'Alright, geez.' I rolled my eyes playfully, leaning my head back so I could watch some birds flying high up in the sky. 'I guess this is just where I come when I can't handle stuff. If I get too stressed out for whatever reason, I come here. It makes me happy.' When she seemed happy with my answer, I couldn't help but have a bit more fun with her. 'And now you're here giving me ice-cream so I mean why wouldn't I want to come.' Camila gave me a light slap on my upper arm.

'You're so stupid. You aren't coming here just for the ice-cream, are you?' Genuine concern found itself on her face, causing a lopsided grin to spread across mine.

'We'll find out tomorrow then, won't we?' I had finished my ice-cream, so I stood to stretch my arms up above my head and yawned loudly. Camila grumbled unhappily at my comment.

'Y'know, you don't have to give me ice-cream if you don't want to.' I pointed out and she quickly turned her head away.

'I know.' She was quiet for a second, so I shoved my hands into the pockets of my jeans and breathed in the warm air before she finally looked back. 'See you tomorrow, Lauren?'

'Yeah. See you tomorrow.' As I turned and walked away, I couldn't help but find myself looking forward to it.
