Back in their trainee days, before Sixteen too, Chaeyoung liked Somi. Somi was always picked on by other girls for being half Canadian. Chaeyoung was mad because there's nothing wrong with that so why would you make fun of it. Despite being bullied, Somi was always positive. One day the two actually met; Chaeyoung approached Somi and tried to hide her feelings. "Hey Somi, I'm Chaeyoung... I just kind of wanted to meet you.". Somi replied "Hello! Chaeyoung unnie, I already know you, you're pretty popular... Seems like you already know me? Oh and is it okay if I call you unnie?". Chaeyoung tells her "Of course it's okay! I want you to call me unnie! Let's be comfortable around each other from now on.". Somi liked the idea and Chaeyoung liked it even more. After that day they were always together. Chaeyoung always tried to drop hints she liked Somi by doing nice things like opening doors for her, doing extra skinship.... Chaeyoung thought this all went unnoticed but it didn't, Somi noticed but she thought Chaeyoung did that for everyone. Even if she did do it for everyone, Somi didn't care, she can't control how she feels. She started to like Chaeyoung. They started going on dates as "friends". When the were with a group of friends, it seemed like they were the only two there. Their hearts fluttered together so both of them didn't notice the other. There was one day when it happened. Somi popped the question "Chaeyoung unnie, is there anyone you like right now?". The question caught Chaeyoung by surprise, she has liked Somi for over a year but they've only recently started talking. Chaeyoung thinks quick and decides to answer with "Nope, no one is really my style here.". Somi was shut down without even confessing. Chaeyoung knows it was her own decision to say that. She eventually turns her love for Somi from a romantic one to a sisterly one. Somi on the other hand still hasn't gotten over Chaeyoung. And that's how a simple response to a question changed their fate from "lovers" to "almost lovers".
