"it matters."

i looked up at you in surprise.

we were in your room.

it's already been an hour since we left the cafe.

the storm hit fast and showed no signs of stopping anytime soon.

"what are you talking about?" i looked back down at my phone.

you stayed quiet for a second,

almost as if you were debating whether or not to speak your mind.

"you said it doesn't matter what you think, but it does."

"why would something like that matter?"

"i don't know, but it matters to me!" you looked so troubled.

my mouth opened,

but no words would come out.

was this why you were so quiet since we got back?

that's what was bothering you?

"don't worry about me."

it came out a lot harsher than i intended.

"say whatever you want, you can take it out on me. i don't care, just stop hiding how you feel! how many times do i need to tell you that?"

my breath hitched in my throat.

"i don't mind. as long as you let me in..., i'll be happy despite what you say."
