Imagine Person A is stuck/trapped somewhere and surrounded by a bunch of monsters ready to eat them. Person B stands nearby but far enough away from the monsters. A yells at B to shoot them because they'd rather die quickly than be eaten, but B shoots at the monsters instead. However, the monsters don't even react, and B has to watch as A is ripped apart and eaten right in front of them.
