Alfred
That laugh was so obnoxious. I could hear it over the fireworks. I glanced sideways to look at them. Gilbert and Arthur sat only a few feet away from me, both appeared drunk. The white haired man was laughing at something, which made Arthur laugh. Arthur's laugh was nice, light and whimsical, I didn't mind hearing it.
But god.. Gilbert made me want to punch him in the face.
I narrowed my eyes as I watched the man put his arm around Arthur's waist, pulling him closer. And to my shock, Artie actually accepted it, leaning his head slightly on the other's shoulder.
How dare he. How dare Arthur betray me like that, that he go on and just find someone to replace me-
You pushed him away.
You made him turn to another for love.
It's your fault. Your fault. Your fault!
I wish that I could turn my brain off because I didn't want to listen to it scold me. There was no reason for me to be jealous and mad when I forced Arthur out of my life. A dumb move on my part but I still held resent for what he had done to me. Even though he had gone out of his way to make me feel comfortable and welcome, it didn't take the sting off from being stolen from my family.
But still, I kept growing more and more jealous as I watched the two of them. Arthur was my light, my air, my world and seeing him screw around with some random albino guy that we just met, made my heart hurt. I was obviously way better than Gilbert, in everything. Bigger, stronger, more beautiful. Everyone wanted me.
Everyone but Arthur.
I'm going to put my head through the wall.
My eyes widened as Arthur turned his head, those green eyes lighting up in the flash of fireworks. I knew he was going to look at me, he had been this whole trip. Just watching with a sad, hurt puppy look. I didn't turn my face this time, I met his gaze, hoping somehow that he could just understand that I wasn't happy with him for this.
A faint, small smile crossed his lips but it was soon gone as Gilbert was suddenly blocking my view of them. I watched in horror as Gil was kissing him. In my head, I was watching the albino die over and over in multiple ways. Horror soon turned to shock though as I watched Arthur kiss him back. Their slanted mouths pressed together, tongues and teeth clashing together.
I went numb, my eyes burning as I just watched them. My body was twitching, unsure whether to jump up and fight or stay still and accept. I didn't get a chance to decide as I felt a hand tug my shirt.
"Alfred, are you okay?"
I blinked a few times, looking down at Lien. Her lips were pursed, her face twisted into one of concern.
I faked it.
A smile crossed my lips and I nodded. "Yeah, sorry, I spaced out for a second there."
"Did you like the fireworks? The town always puts on a good show every year."
I turned my attention back to the last few fireworks dying in the black sky. "It was so amazing! I've never seen anything like it before."
Being this happy when I was furious was hard to do, but Lien looked so content with me. I didn't want her to know.
The girl was smiling, standing up and brushing off her dress before offering her hand to me. I took it and stood, eyes glancing around. Arthur and Gilbert were gone, probably snuck off while I was distracted. As soon as I could get away from Lien, I was going to find them.
