The Pain Behind Smiles [ Ken Kaneki × Reader ]

Encounter

You just transferred to the 20 ward and you are currently attending at a univarsity called "Kamii University." After school you pasted by a coffee shop called "Anteiku." You decided to go in and have a have a cup of coffee. As you walk in a bell rings from the door opening and a waitress with dark purple hair with her bangs covering her right eye greets you with a bright smile. " Welcome to Anteiku." You give a bright smile back at her. You take a seat and the waitress takes your order. " May I have a cappuccino and some sandwiches?" The waitress nods and writes your order down in a small note pad. " Is that all?" The waitress asks, " Yes ma'am, thank you." You say with a smile. "Okey your order will come right up!" You nod still smiling at her. When she leaves the table you take out a book you've been reading. The name of the book was "The Black Goats Egg." by Takastuki Sen. As soon as you open the book you here the bells ringing. You see two boys walk in and the sit at the table across from you. You put the book down because the waitress came with your order, " Here you go miss.", " Thank you!" You say with a smile. You take a sip of your cappuccino and you smile because of the delightful taste. " Excuse me? May I ask what your name is?" She turns around and stared at you but tells you her name, " My name is Kirishima Touka." " My name is [l/n] [f/n]! I just want to compliment your coffee and your sandwiches, they tastes so amazing!" You say with a bright smile, making her smile as well and says thankyou. Then she walks off to serve other customers. You look up to see one of the boys from before staring at you, so you smile back. Then he quickly turns away with a blushed face. You got to observe him more and he had short black hair and grey eyes. You didn't want to bother the boy, but his friend looked back at you and have him a smile also. They were both slightly flustered because they were just caught staring. You get back to you drinking your cappuccino and eating your sandwiches. You read your book and hear the two boys talking to each other.
" So Kaneki, do you like that girl?" Hide asks.
" N-no, I just think she looks n- nice!" Kaneki says while being a little flustered
" Whatever you say, but I know you like her!" Hide says with a smirk.
"I already told you, I like someone else." Kaneki says.
Kaneki takes out his book and takes one more glance at you observing your features. Your [h/l] [h/c] hair, your [e/c] eyes, and your [s/c] skin. He noticed that your reading the same book as him and he gives a little smile. Hide took quick notice of this and got your attention.
" Excuse me, miss? What is your name?" Hide asks.
" My name is [l/n] [f/n]. What might yours be?" You say giving him a sweet smile.
" My name is Hideyoshi Nagachika, are you single?" He asks giving you a smile.
" W-why do you want t-to know?" You say a little flustered.
" Because my friend Kaneki here likes you!" He says with a smile.
" Hide stop it your embarrassing her!" Kaneki scolds him.
Your face was a light pink, but it got back too normal. Kaneki was a little flustered himself and Hide was smirking. It felt really awkward for a moment, until the door opened. A woman with purple hair, purple eyes, and red glasses walked in.
" That's her!" Kaneki said with a smile.
" Kaneki, are you crazy?! You don't have any chances with her, I mean aren't there any other girls you could date?" Hide said.
" Hide stop, your making a scene. I want to try to date her Hide! I like her a lot! Her name is Rize and she is beautiful." Kaneki says with pink dusted on his cheeks.
Hide sets money on the table to pay for his coffee. " Whatever, I wish you the best of luck! I have to go so bye!" Hide says to Kaneki
After Hide leaves you decide to head out as well. Kaneki sees you leaving and his smile faded just a little bit, but then he focused back on Rize. Somehow he managed to get a date with Rize but things did not go so well on the date. The next day you went to the coffee shop hoping you would see Hide and Kaneki again, but they weren't there. 'Did something happen to them?' You thought. After getting some coffee you set out into the busy streets of tokyo. A man in a blue sweater catches your eyes, and you see Kaneki's face. You slowly make you way towards him and call his name, " Kaneki!" You say smiling. He looks at you and starts running away from you. You want to follow him but you lost sight of him because of all the people there. You desperatly look for him, but he's out of sight. You decide to go home and sleep in your nice warm comfy bed. But your still worried about Kaneki, and you start thinking about him none stop. You unlock the doors to your apartment and walk in. You take a shower and go to bed.

Kaneki POV:
Hide and I were talking about Rize. Though he didn't know what her name was. He was jumping to conclusions and when he turned around he revealed a beautiful face. I started to feel a little warm, and I couldn't help but state at her. I heard their little conversation and got her name. "[l/n] [f/n], that's a nice name." I muttered quietly to myself. I smiled a little bit because she was blushing and it made her look cute. Suddenly Hide looked back at me. I quickly looked down so he wouldn't see my light pink face, but it was too late. He caught a glimpse of me and smirked my direction. When I looked up again, I could see [f/n] smiling. Her smile was so beautiful, it was a gentle smile, and suddenly I felt happy to see it. After scolding Hide for embarrassing her like that, my crush came in, and [f/n] left minutes later. I felt a little bit sad that I couldn't see her smile for longer, but the good side was that I could see Rize smile. I noticed Rize Rice was also reading the same book I was reading, and my heart skipped a beat. 'Could she like the same author as me?!' I thought. Surprisingly, I managed to get a date with her! I felt so happy!

(Time skip)

Everything went dark, I could only hear muffled sounds. What happened to me? Why am in the hospital? Wait... Rize. How am I alive?!

(Time skip)

While I was walking in the streets, I saw [f/n], I wanted to go to her, but I was reminded that I was a monster. I didn't want to hurt her, so I ran. I hurt so much, to run away from her, I wanted to approach her and start over, but she could never accept me for the monster I am.

A/N: I hope you like to the first chapter! I will try to write at least 800 - 1000 words in each chapter just so they aren't so short.
