Sebastian walked into the room, carrying a platter with tea and cake. It appeared to be a quite normal day.
However, when the demon entered the room his young master was doing paperwork in, he sensed something was... Off.

Nevertheless, he didn't mention anything and acted as if nothing was out of the ordinary.
"Young master? Your tea."

"What?" Ciel jumped slightly, before quickly getting over his shock. However he still looked stiff. "Oh um, t-thank you Sebastian. You may leave." Ciel refused to meet his eyes.

Sebastian frowned slightly at this. What was going on? Ciel rarely acted this way. Usually he was a composed, collected teen. That had made a contract with a demon.
Still, it worried Sebastian. He wouldn't say they were dating, but it wasn't simply just a servant/master relationship. They were closer than that. At first, the demon had been very unsure about the contract. But now, he truly cared about the young Earl. It honestly felt weird to "love" a human. Usually his "love" involved one night stands for means to get information. He was still new to the dedication.

Ciel did his best to stay away from his demonic butler for the rest of the day. Whenever Sebastian's blood red eyes caught his...he didn't know how to describe it. It was a mixture between safety and love but at the same time it felt so wrong.
A thirteen year old Earl wasn't supposed to love a demon. It just wasn't righteous.
However Ciel couldn't think of what he would do without Sebastian right now. He needed him. Without his butler he was just a 13-year-old boy again.
Yet being surrounded by people who would certainly disapprove, it weighed down on Ciel. Plus, he needed to keep up appearances. Something like this could definitely ruin the Phantomhive name, Ciel thought bitterly at he made his way upstairs to retire for the evening.

"Ciel?" Sebastian's voice was smooth and soft, doing away with formalities now that the servants were away.
Ciel nearly jumped out of his skin again, so lost in thought he hadn't noticed his butler enter.

"Yes what is it?" Ciel muttered, sliding into bed without a second glance towards the demon.

Sebastian hesitated, something he rarely did. But he did not want to mess this up. "Is there something wrong, Ciel?" The tone was slightly accusing, but only to the point that Ciel would know Sebastian knew something was up.

Ciel stayed silent. He wasn't sure if he wanted to discuss it, although he knew it was probably necessary. How could he stay in a relationship if he kept thoughts like these? It was sure to lead to disaster. Ciel wasn't one who read cheesy romance books and believed things like that, but anyone with half a brain would know that. Doubts and insecurities about a relationship would never lead to anything good with the relationship. It would be doomed.

"It's nothing." Ciel tried to keep his voice strong, to push out any hesitation. After all he was the Earl Phantomhive.

Sebastian smoothed down the sheets, before turning to stare deeply at Ciel. "You can tell me, dear Ciel. What's going on in that apt mind of yours?" He made his voice as alluring as he could without being over the top.

Ciel stubbornly shrunk down in the silky sheets. "It's nothing."
Sebastian and his stupid demon voice. Luckily for the young lord he'd learned how to mostly lessen the charming effects it had on humans.

Realizing that tactic wouldn't work, Sebastian switched to a more direct way. "Ciel. I know something's up. I can't fix anything if you don't tell me, remember? So tell me. I'm not only your butler, but your lover too."

Ciel finally turned in bed to face him, frustration clear on his face. "And that's exactly why!" He exclaimed, "our relationship is so-" Ciel hesitated before just blurting it out. "Utterly wrong!"

Sebastian paused for a second, letting Ciel's words sink in. The young lord was clearly distressed, glaring at the sheets and fidgeting like he wanted to get up and run.
Sebastian moved soundlessly, brushing a hair behind the boy's face gently. "Is that what's bothering you right now?"

There was no response, but Sebastian could guess. He sat on the edge of the bed, wanting to give the young lord his space to collect himself.
"Remember Ciel, you've made a contract with a demon," Sebastian's eyes glowed with hellfire for a moment before returning to normal, "and you made your choice. But remember along the way you simply fell in love with me, and I with you. Don't you humans say that you can't choose who you love?"

"It's merely a saying," Ciel scoffed, though he looked calmer.

Sebastian smiled slightly. "It's quite a good one. Now, why don't you get some rest. It's a busy day as usual tomorrow."

Ciel sighed. "I suppose you're right..."

Sebastian gazed fondly at him for awhile, before murmuring: "I care about you in a way that I never thought I would, Ciel."

There was a pause, before Ciel whispered back. "Me too. But I don't mind it. Goodnight, Sebastian."
